T@kezo
Hello,
after watching Brainchilds pictures i had to start emediatly tongue.gif .
Im from germany so my english is pretty bad.
I´ve started 2weeks ago and bought everything necessary after surfing 2days and nights. When my Lenses are here i can put everything together.
This is a modified Light from a Theatre. Got to get cleaned. It got a 400w Hqi (250w would be enough too) ,a spherical reflector and i could keep it very quiet. Ballast etc are already build in by me.

magic_mat123
thats looks interesting!
Keep us posted on your progress!
also what lcd are you using?
T@kezo
thanks,
im waiting for my Benq 557v2 Tft. It should be here on Monday.
Got it from Ebay for 220€ and the whole Thing is 290€ maybe there ll be 20-30€ more for a safety glass between bulb and Tft to keep Ir-light away.
Norlander
Not sure this will work, but I am interested to see how you make out.

Cheers,
Lee

Hey Joe, did you know they still make a fixture that uses that type of lens for theater use. We use them here in town at the theater I do the lighting for.
T@kezo
its even older than that. happy.gif
Here are another pics with the light on at daylight.

Watch out your going to burn a hole in the wall tongue.gif
joecnc2006
nice and bright.
T@kezo
smile.gif thanks btw unsure.gif what happens if i should have too much light (557 Tft got 400:1 kontrast. Will that really be enough or will i get grey instead of black on screen) ?
Eyebath
The blacks on your projection would grey-out, and your white's would be tooo bright wink.gif
joecnc2006
Yea but from pictures hard to see how it would compare to the 400w we use, but might as well try it, its a start and you can alwayz improve on it.
T@kezo
hm it should be the same Bulb but the reflector is very strong. Ill see.
Could I change the Bulb without removing anything else?

I agree, try it. I don't think it will be too bright, but if it was, that's what you would see.

Probable not because the machine was made for a sertain bulb wattage, Like the Ballast I use is a M59 and only certain bulbs will work. but you can check to see, but I would just try it 1st, looks like it will work for ya from what i seen.

Oh, and also check the heat comming out, may need tempered glass infront of it, may not be bad idea to do it anyway, like the guide shows.
T@kezo
Actually i do like the guide shows.
But without tempered glas this little different one construction would really destroy the colours of my display during longer period. I ordered coated tempered glass to filter infraredlight.
Got to check if the bulbchange would work to my ballast.

Make sure the Coated tempered glass is clear sometimes it has a greenish tent, and could throw your colors off.

huh.gif thanks didnt know. will do that

You're in Germany, right? Shipping from the US to Europe can take quite a while thanks to customs, etc. Be patient... wink.gif
T@kezo
Sry but the problem with ebay made me pretty impatiently rolleyes.gif your right.

I already checked the List and in Germany theyre called "Bestwin" . Seems to be a newer Version of the Cmv 518A/1515 or the CT-522.
I think im going to buy this one and check if it works.
Eyebath
Good luck! wink.gif

What happened about the fraud on eBay?
T@kezo
Thanks
i have to wait 7days because i had to warn the seller. After that i can fill a form and ebay gives the money back if its fraud (and it was - not just for me)

Now i go to the store because i have to buy my first own Lcd tongue.gif . Cant wait biggrin.gif

Hi Sebastian, USPS international doesn't have tracking but I can tell you that customs can delay the package for up to 3 weeks. My guess is that it will be there within the next few days. Let me know.

now thats embarrassing to me. ph34r.gif I checked the wrong Mails.
Really sorry for the trouble. You and Xeon did indeed write back imediately.
As i said im really impatiently. Cant wait to light my screen. rolleyes.gif

I bought the CT529A and it really looks like a newer Version of the 1515.
Im going to strip it when the Lenses are here and at the moment im just impressed by the picturequality. Its perfect. I hope it works without ffc problems but even the box looked almost like the 1515box in the guide so it should be fine.

how much was the lcd? US$
brainchild
Well I hope it gets there soon. This has happened before, customs is a random beast. Some packages will get there in a few days, others get held up for weeks.
T@kezo
I bought it in store and it was 319.54Dollar (270€). I think its not too expensive for that quality.
Cant describe how brilliant the picture looks. HAve to get that on wall!! tongue.gif

Brainchild: its no problem i was just scared and i can start now because i have my monitor and the lenses should fit when theyre here. So on Saturday i can complete my Lcdbox.

That just reminded me, my girlfriend ordered me a replacement PJ lens, and it was just 6 days later I had it in my hands. And that's to the UK.

When I have a son, I will christen him brainchild. Or daughter.

Seriously though, thanks, amazing service smile.gif

interesting design Takezo, what is that in this pic... Top or bottom?
T@kezo
This is going to be bottom. The whole box will be mounted on the lamp like a drawer. I want to make it disapear in a small cupboard and its going to be big but quiet.
Itll be ready tomorrow and on Wednesday i will build my screen (125"). On thursday my Lcd get stripped. smile.gif
Hope my Lens kit is here soon.
T@kezo
Does anyone have the size of his Fresnels exactly?
I cant go on because i want it to fit in.
Rorshach
Depends, if they are cut apart and cut down to fit a 15" monitor then the Lumenlab store page says:

QUOTE
Cut to approx. 12 3/16” (11 13/16” usable) x 9 3/4” for use with a standard 15” LCD monitor.

The Dual Focus Fresnel is cut so the 2 lenses are completely separate giving focal lengths of 220mm and 330mm

If they are still heat welded together then the same page says:

QUOTE
310mm X 310mm - approx 12 3/16” x 12 3/16”

Forward Focal Length: 330mm
Rear Focal Length: 220mm

The Dual Focus Fresnel is 2 fresnel lenses which are chemically welded together by the manufacturer.

Hope that helps.
T@kezo
I checked it two times blink.gif wacko.gif dry.gif biggrin.gif HAvent seen yet.

Thanks Rorshach will go on tomorrow. I even wont have to change my construction.
