I started viewing this site months ago, in the middle of a move into a new house. Thanks to all for your help.

I just slapped everything together to see how things work...

I test fired my SD400 about 3 month ago in the apartment. Now that I'm in the new house it won't fire. huh.gif So...at the top I just have a 300W quatz shop light.

Anybody know how to test or tell is the electronic ballast is OK. I already fried my voltmeter. LOL

I'm going to mount the light engine in a seperate box on top of the PJ. This should keep a lot of heat out of the main box. The light window will have a small tempered glass to help block heat also. Two fans just for the light engine.

The box is a folded design which will hold the very nice 1900x1200 WUXGA from minoten. Nice stuff minoten!!!

The lense is a Sharp LCD lense with power zoom and power focus. Great find on Ebay. I'm not sure of all the specs. Maybe somone could help me find them.

The tempered glass will stop heat from being convected into the rest of the PJ, but it won't stop IR, which turns into heat when it contacts the lenses and LCD. Replace the tempered glass with a Hot Mirror and you should be OK.

You can buy at the LL store a UV sheet that can go on the glass you already have, or use XL10 Lexan which has UV protectant already in it. There is a post in the trading post for sale

Yes, I have a UV sheet that will go on top of the first lense.

I'll take a look at the Hot Mirror.

Thanks

Got my new bulb. biggrin.gif

It looks like I'm only getting about a 6" from the "test LCD" screen It is very clear but I don't see the whole test area (I have the screen borders marked.)

I'm using a larger reflector with a 4" FP, and 220/330 FL. Can someone give me a clue how I can adjust to see more of the test area?

This is projecter from 14'

TIA

Mike

I think with that lens it will be impossible. If the lens you have is out of a commercial projector, then it's not designed to 'look' at a larger surface area. The field of view simply isn't wide enough.

Bummer. I though if the lens was placed at the right position it would only be projecting a small image. I have it layed out to be about a 1"x2" going into the lens

FYI I blew up the tempered glass. ohmy.gif I guess the lamp can't be 1" from the glass. That was kind of scary...

Most voltmeters/ multi-meters have internal replaceable fuses, if you haven't thrown it out already.

I never throw anything out. LOL

The display is just flickering, but I'll check the fuse.

Thanks
