Grr wish my digicam was working! Sorry no pics.

My projected PJ image has some color distortion. My picutre is bright, crisp and clear, but for what ever reason I have spots here and there that are "glowing" and "flickering". Thats the best way I can describe it. If I try to adjust gamma, contrast etc... on both my computer and monitor, it only moves the glowing section to another part of the screen. It seems dark colors are fine, but bright colors like white, red, yellow, orange gets this glowing effect.

Its definitely an issue with the PJ LCD because the picture looks fine on my laptop and CRT monitor. I thought excess heat may be causing the problem but PJ temp never gets above 90 degrees. I'm sure this has happened to someone else? If so is there anything I can do to fix it, or is my monitor ruined?

Sorry for the vague description.

EDIT: Monitor is the LG1530s which is mounted in the metal frame it came with.

Here is an example of what the discoloration would like like on a DVD. The facial shadows and shine will have a pixelated color distortion like in the pic below I took from another thread. Notice the top right of her forhead. The desktop distortion problem is more of a glow and flicker opposed to the shading problems on the DVD.

Please tell me this is not normal to have this flickering going on? I read a little about "commoning" my LCD control boards, would commoning my boards help with this or am I SOL?

I'm not totally sure that I understand you problem, but if changing brightness or gamma causes the problem to move and it only happens with bright areas it sounds like either the video card is generating too high a voltage or the input voltage scaling is having a problem. I knew of some older CRTs that could accept either 1V or 0.7V video signals and you had to set a switch to match the correct volatge levels, but I haven't seen that in years. All I could suggest is adding some resistance to limit the voltage levels, but I think that either the video card is bad or the monitor inputs aren't working correctly.

That's also similar to what happens when you exceed the viewing angle on some LCDs as well. Are you using an unsplit fresnel configuration?

What LCD are you using?

Well it appears that all it was a loose wire on one of my connections between the LCD and control board. One of the wires came loose from the plastic housing causing it not to connect when plugged into my LCD. I was freakin out that either my monitor was a POS or I had damaged it stripping the thing. PHEW! Took me 2 hours to find the root of the problem but damn, my projection looks awesome now, VERY bright with the Venture bulb setup. Thx to those that tried to help smile.gif Much love.

I was just going to post that very suggestion as I recently thought I killed my monitor biggrin.gif
