These are all the pieces of my lcd monitor. The compaq fp 5315.

I hope I did everything correct so far.

This is a close up of the lcd panel with the controller chips?

And here is where I'm stumped. The part where i circled is joined together and this is preventing me from taking out the LCD itself. Should I pull it out?

Also, since those other chips have been disconnected, how do I connect the lcd screen to a computer or tv tuner box? Do I connect them back? Does anyone have picture of the chips they have left in their projector? Sorry if I seem like a total newbie.

Many thanks!

That's your ffc ribbon. Don't bend it or break it , It's the hearbeat of your lcd. You may have to get an extension ribbon from lumenlab. Looks like an ffc issue to me. The little white box is where you take it apart at. The ribbon is fastened there. you lift up on the little tips on the clip. GENTLY, don't break those ears. Be sure to be aware on how the ribbon is placed in it. Mark it with a sharpie on one side. Be aware on how deep it is in the clamp. Don't just pull it out of the clamp. Unfasten it by the ears. lol, also when you assemble it , not much force is needed to fasten it back.

Hmm, well I took it off quite easily. I hope my LCD is still workable. Now all I need is the extension sad.gif

Can anyone answer my last few questions?

Basicly you need everything BUT the backlight. Most people are mounting the
other circuit boards on a board or part of the case inside of the case within the distance of the wires
needed to reconnect them. In some cases you may have to extend the wires by
cutting and splicing in wires.

Hope that makes sense? If not take a look at some plogs and it qill quickly make sense.

Hey just to let you know that LCD looks to be the same as the identical panel in the Wal-Mart iLo brand 15" LCD smile.gif

Here is the beginning of my Plog:

I also have the technical specifications and etc linked in that thread. I bought the 16pin ffc extention and it works fine.

I've just recieved the ffc extention but I don't know how to connect the ffc extention to my ffc ribbin. I have that small little piece.

Oh I have figured it out. Thanks.
