has anyone used a lighting setup like this?

The reflectors are not half circles thus you won't have the right ligthing focus.
The MH bulbs are all 4000 deg K for Colour Temperature and the lumens is 23,000 both of which are a little low.

Yes, i found some used high bay lamps on ebay for around $15 US. They came with 3 bulbs. It's a GE pulse strike high bay. I detached the socket from the base and put 12 ft of high temperature wire from the socket to the base. The base is in a hallway away from the projector There's a slight hum to the ballast, so keeping it 12 ft away, I don;t hear it. I'm using a philips 400W base up clear bulb. As a reflector I'm using an 8" mixing bowl found at a dollar store for .88 cents US.

So far it's worked fine for several months. For a while I was disappointed with the brightness of the picture but after many weeks of tweaking I'm surprised how bright it is compared to the first test. It varies with the programming source.... live TV is brighter than some dramatic shows....
