Okay here goes. I have my projector set up and it is great, but it appears that there is light leaking onto the screen through the LCD monitor. It is hard to explain what is happening but if you sit and watch a dark movie, at the bottom there will be a very slight cone of light hitting the screen (bloody annoying). I think it is the light getting through the LCD monitor because I am buggered if I can find any other source. Has anyone else had this problem. I hope I have made sense. I am using the Benq 567V2 monitor.

If you're sure it's not the tripplet from where the light comes, I'd try closing the gaps (this may be the problem I guess) between the lcd visible area and its frame, using adhesive tape.

Yeah there are several threads on this; the trouble is that they are difficult to find with the search tool. If anyone knows where they are, hopefully they will give us a link.
There has never been a difinitive answer to this as far as I know. Some suspected that some panels might be the problem, it seems to occur randomly. Is the front portion of your box painted black and sealed from light leaks? I would think that this would be a good place to start.

I am using a benq 557s v2 and I can make the apperence of light leaks, ie having bright spots on the bottom or top of the screen by pissing around with the rear fresnel in my case. But when I have the rear fresnel dead on centre to my lcd and front fresnel, with all my sides sealed I have a nice evenly lit screen with no light leaks.
But my rear fresnel is sealed on all four sides. My lexan rear fresnel and lcd are all sealed on all four sides, I put them all on a riser that was channeled out for them, and put my cooling slot in that riser between the lcd and rear fresnel. But even with all four sides sealed if I move my rear fresnel to much out of alignment, I get bright light leaks on my screen.

That is the most diffinitive answer I have heard yet on this subject. Some have seen this leakage on all four sides, I wonder if fresnel misalignment could cause this also somehow.

I have this problem on my BenQ 567s v2 and its on all four sides simultaneously.
My fresnels are aligned as perfect as I can make them with both measurement and laser pointer.
I've halved the problem (or maybe 80%) by turning it into a 16:9 display using powerstrip and the display driver and masking the unused pixels at the top and bottom of the LCD but its still 'glows' on the sides in dark scenes.
Still MrWaxhead, I find your suggestion interesting and will look further into it. My rear fresnel is sealed on 3 sides only, the bottom is not sealed but gives the clearance from the projector floor necessary for cooling. I can see how your method has an advantage.

It's definitely an alignment issue. I have nearly eliminated mine by adjusting my lamp and rear fresnel carefully. In my case, the placement of the lamp had the largest impact on the visibility of those bright patches.

i use the same lcd and i had the same problem. it was all in the border around the lcd. you have to make sure there is no light getting thru where there is no pixels. i used electrical tape to create a rough border then seated in a frame. if your getting leakage on the bottom of your projection check out the top of the lcd.
good luck

Thanks I will check it out on the weekend....... after golf. I like the idea of taping off the lcd monitor as I reckon this is the issue
