Hello

I am about to build my first projector. One of my main problems is that most LCD's that are described on forums are not models that I can easily buy as second-hand in my country. So I made a list of common models and I hope you can tell me which ones are easy to use, which means they have no cables that need to be lengthened to get boards out of the way.

There's a compatible lcd list in the protected forums if you're a customer.
MikePL
Probably there is, but I'm not a guide customer. Mainly because I live in Poland, so most of the described methods or hardware is unavailable here. Not to mention that we have 220V here. So this is why buying the guide would be useless for me, and hence my LCD question. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

The guide may not be that useful, but remember you are getting access to thousands of posts in the protected forums. That is worth more than the guide anyway. I am not using the guide much either. Its only 20 bucks, come on...

MikePL,

some (edit: I should say many) customers in the forums are from England, Sweden, South Africa, Australia, Germany, France, Canada etc, etc... Living in Poland and having 220 as an input voltage is not a good excuse. Come on in and join the fun, but most of all you can add your knowledge and gain that much more... for a measely $20 !

cheers,

Absolutely.
I live in BA, and I have to confess that I did find the guide "somewhere".
Trust me, the guide by itself is NOTHING if we compare it to all the bunch of people willing to lend you a hand in the protected forums.
I´ve been lurking a long time and Im finally about to begin my pj construction, and I would gladly pay another $20 just to stay in cool.gif

In my opinion, $19 of the $20 is for the forum access. I would have not had the confidence to even think about attempting to build one of these things if it wasn't for the help and support I got from this forum, and all it's members.
MikePL
Maybe I will have to consider all that, but I am hesitant anyway. So far I have made my own projector design, based on a few months of observation and the only problem is the LCD. I am willing to experiment with what I have and maybe later share it with people. The forum access is indeed a thing to consider but my wife wouldn't let me spend so much time reading this laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Think how much better you could make your design if you stole ideas from other people.

Thank you very much for your invitations, but could you help me with the LCD's I need at least one or two models that will suit me. Well, frankly speaking three would be great but probably the moderators won't be happy to see such information on the public forums laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

You are willing to spend $200+ on the lcd, plus about 300 on the rest, but you are NOT willing to drop $20 for all the help..... amazing blink.gif

You are not asking for advice, you are asking us to disregard some rules imposed by the site owner.

Those "lol" smilies are not going to help you either. Real people will help you, only if you want to take part of this, for real.
jmrguy
If you don't want to help us by adding to this website, why should we help you?

All of us payed the $20. It is a very minimal cost when compared to the cost of the projector and all the information you will receive (plus then you won't pester us with questions that you could just look up for yourself).
MikePL
The thing is that there are people in my country who have to work for 8 or 9 hours to earn $20. I am not being malicious etc. but I've been saving money for almost a year to make this project. I have saved around $230 and I am planning to buy as much as I can and probably wait weeks till I buy the rest of my parts. This is why I am cautious about spending money. I could buy a bulb for these $20, for example. If I didn't have to pay taxes that sum up to 45% of my earnings I would surely buy the guide, for me and my neighbours laugh.gif and friends, but I can't do it.
Now that you wanted to hear the real reasons, you've got them... sad.gif
