Mine is pretty much done, just tweaking the cable/scaler setup, screen, etc.
It's made from vertical grain fir-faced plywood (3/4" and 3/16") and solid fir for edges.
Here it is before mounting on the ceiling.

Here it is mounted, before I covered up the mounting brackets and routed the cable better.
Oh yeah, you may have noticed the big oops. I put some cheap melamine-faced pressboard on the bottom before I decided to mount it on the ceiling. Doh!

Here's a view of the forward portion of the inside.
E-ballast is right (upper of pic), filter in the middle, LCD electronics and power supply to the left (bottom of pic).

swoozle, slick looking wood.
a few questions though, what did you construct the triplet housing from?
do you have any pics of the bulb end of the box?
I was thinking about a Haas design but wondering about bulb and reflector adjustments.

Just looking at the pics again, you said that you covered the bracket and cables. Did you do it with some of the nice looking wood? I think it would look real sharp.
This was what I was thinking, I'm sure it would look a lot better than this though.

Geez, sorry for the delay. I've got that sucker up on the ceiling and this is the only pic I got before I closed it up. It ain't coming down until something breaks!
The bulb is enclosed in sheet metal (painted black on the inside) with a sheet metal frame on the front to block stray light. You can see the reflector mount (upper right), thermo switch (mid right) and fan (below).

And here's what the brackets look like. Nothing special, but they cover the worst of it.
Click to view attachmentIf I'd have been thinking, I would have made them wider (like your sketch) to hide the upper part of the bracket.

I took the triplet and stood in Home Depot sewer pipe department for a while trying different fittings. Found one that the lens fit inside and one that that piece fit inside. It took a little electrical tape to make the fit snug, but it works and looks ok. No fancy screw-in adjustment, just slide back and forth. Works great.

I spent some time on a screen mount that works pretty well. The blackout cloth rolls up on a length of 3" black plastic pipe. the setup is on roller tracks so it can be pulled forward for smaller/brighter or pushed back for larger throw. Here it is back/rolled up:

Here it is forward and rolled down.
Click to view attachmentYes, the screen gets a little wrinkled (no bottom weight yet), but you don't notice when the pj is on.

Here's the "bearing", which is just 1.5" pipe running through 1/4" ply with appropriate adapters on either side to step up to the 3" screen roller and (on the other side) as a handle to turn it up and down.

The rollers I got in the screen door repair section and they run on a section of dowel of the appropriate size (1/4"?) glued to the top surface of the bottom board that makes up the roller "tray".

Black on the inside...I painted mine white, hey, any projection shots I wanna compare how yours looks to mine and you can see some at my plog. I realize that the center of the brightess area of the arc is where it all happening but I also wanted to harness every bit of light hopefully in an even spread to help with the dark corners.
