Hi everyone,

Im based in the UK, and am in the process of getting interest from the community for the production of a kit containing LCD, Controller and IR - remote. This kit will be capable of displaying 1080P resolutions.

The LCD panel would of high specification, displaying 1920* 1200 pixels. LCD type is Sharp LQ154M1LW02 LCD

The Controller would have DVI, VGA, Composite RGB, SVideo and D-Sub inputs, and an Infra red remote control.

Would anyone out there be interested in a kit to do this available in Europe?

Due to the European Open market, I can offer this kit with tax calculated at the rates applicable in your own country, so you wont have to incure a huge tax bill!!!

If you are interested then let me know as Im in the process of ordering the parts for a prototype, and getting someone to design and set up a web page with the information.

Many thanks

Rob

Im in discussions with HM Revenue & Customs at the moment.

It seems there is either a 0% or a 5% import charge into the European Union, they cant make up there minds...... dry.gif

There is also a VAT charge to the customer equal to what ever is relevant in the destination country, within the European Union.

I think that the base price will be around the same as minoten is offering to the USA and Canada. Probably a little less, but this won't include VAT or Shipping to the customer.

This is the problem with importing into Europe, it seems that EU insists on charging us all an average of 30% premium for importing goods! (In the UK at least, I remember minoten stating that VAT is less elsewhere in Europe, and you will be able to take advantage of this fact if you are lucky enough to be resident in one of those countries)

As to weither or not this makes the kit viable for Europe, is the reason I set up this topic. biggrin.gif

So what your saying is the end user will be paying the tax for the stuff to be shipped from the US to the UK?

How much was minoten's stuff?

My applogies MMc I will be a little clearer...... smile.gif

I will get the parts from Taiwan and ship them to the UK.

I will then ship them out to anyone in Europe that wishes to buy. Therefore avoiding American Import, Tax, and shipping.....

By doing this we chop out the cost of sending to America, paying American tax, then exporting to Europe and paying European import and Tax.

Anyone who buys into this deal will only incur costs as if they had bought the items direct from Taiwan.

Ah, OK. Sorry, I misunderstood you!

I'm guessing this means it should be fairly cheap for a fellow UK resident?

Any vague idea of price?

Funny thing is, its probably going to be more expensive in UK then in other parts of Europe..... Because of the rediculous amount of VAT payable over here. (The rest of Europe wont pay UK VAT)

I cant really give you a price as yet, since it swings around the import duties....

For the EU you have the following possiblilties...

Wide Screen LCD with video input 14%
Wide screen LCD / Plasma display 5%
Computer Monitor, no video input 0%

Until Customs and Excise make up there minds which it is going to be, I cant give a price.

But Im transfering the money to Taiwan today, so with a lead time of 2 weeks, we should soon find out how much I get charged for the test kit........

Of course, what ever it costs, it should be at least 10% cheaper once the group buy is set up for Europe.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry to make you change your links again, Im having difficulty finding a place on the net that allows access to everyone in Europe, so for now, until I have my web site setup, please find the info you need here.....
