I need Help with my projector. It's a 5 inch Psone screen. I just bought a 400W metal halide with a ISB Sola Basic Ballast.

Ballast

I believe I hooked it up right. I put A Common and the 120v wires straight to the wall, the other common to the lamp, from the lamp theres a wire going to the cap, and then hooked up the cap wire from the ballast to the cap. I'm pretty sure I did it right, but maybe not.

I bought page magnifiers for fresnels from staples and cut them down to size. I'm not sure if that would have anything to do with brightness

My projected image is not nearly as bright as anyones on this sight. I can barely even watch a movie on it. What could it be? Please help me.

I was wondering if I bought the 1022b 120V S400DD Ultimate Light Kit, it might do something but i just don't know? Does the PSone screen only allow so much light to go through it, or what? I really need some help. I've run out of ideas.

Thank you so much.

Do you know what the focal length is of the page magnifiers ? How are you optics setup ? Page Magnifiers are low quality optics and can account for your poor results, especially using one as a field fresnel in front of the LCD.

If you dont know the focal lengths of your page magnifiers, you are lucky to get an image at all.

Scrap them and buy the lumenlab fresnels!!

Ok, I just bought The LL Fresnels right after reading this. Thanks for replying so quickly guys. Now how would I go about cutting the fresnels? So I won't mess anything up. Also, How far away do the fresnels have to be from the LCD?

Thank you so much

The rear one goes very close to the LCD, but doesnt touch it (you need enough gap to let air through for cooling).

The front one needs to be far enough for it not to show in the picture. It its too close to the LCD you will see a projected image of the grooves.

The front one should also be able to be rotated for keystone correction.

Most Page Mag. Have a focal length of 14" hold it under a light to find out, there are many post telling how to do this and also in the guide page.

I used page mag. im my Simple 7" projector you can check out in the forums.

Use a plex knife from home depot its about $4 and works great.I put wood down on the bench then covered the wood with clean paper.Put the lens groove side down on the wood and then I used a peice of wood on top for a straight edge.

It takes a few passes to get through but it will snap right off no problem.

distance is 10mm on the lamp side if my memory serves me

Thank you guys so much. I'll try all this when I get my Fresnels. I'll post any more questions on here if I have them.

You guys are awesome.
