So today I wired up my projector and turned it on but my lamp won't strike. it struck once about 5 sec. after i turned it on but never again. it just makes this noise like power surging thru the bulb. i have the eBallast and the S400DD lamp. could someone Please help?

Is the bulb correctly wired to the eballast?
Eballast connections -> line to line and bulb to bulb?
Also, what voltage is your ballast and what voltage are you connecting it to?

If everything is fine, you should e-mail LL customer service and ask them what to do next. Maybe your eballast or bulb are faulty.

Bye!

No! No! No!

DO NOT check the output voltage from the eballast unless you want your multimeter to become toast.

Try cleaning the centre connection of the bulb and people also report success with bending the centre "prong" of the mogul base upwards so it makes better contact.

If that doesnt work, its likely you have yet another dead eballast. See if you can borrow or cheaply buy another MH bulb to test it with.

I had the same problem initialy I did some test runs about 3 or 4 times to align the lenses. the ballast would not light the lamp every time.It would just pulse, what I did was I soldered all the ballast conections and then put the wire nuts on.I have not had any trouble at all since. put about thirty hours on my hami 8"
Hope this helps

Any connection between the lamp and the eballast that has even the tiniest bit of resistance will largely affect the circuit, since the bulb itself has extremely little resistance and with such high voltages the smallest bit of resistance will cause a fairly large voltage drop.
I get the impression the eballast only marginally strikes the lamp with perfect connections, so the slightest bit of resistance in the mogul base or connections on the ballast could be enough to stop it from striking.

Good to know, I'll solder mine too.
