quick question ... is there an optimal distance to place he fresnels from the lcd..or is it that the closer ther are to the lcd the better.??

Umm your here so I know you've read the guide, read it again, it does specify optimal distance, but make the fresnel nearest the triplet adjustable.

There is an optimal distance, 20mm for the collector and 15 for the condenser. If they are too close then you can get circular lines from the lenses appearing on your projection, too far away and you loose brightness. If you are not building in keystone correction, then the optimal distance for both is 15mm.
