when i was takeing my 510m samsung lcd apart i somehow screwed up the wire that connects the controller board to the main board so when i tested to make shur my lcd is still alvie after takeing it apart all i can press on the controller board is the menu botton if i press any other one it still brings up the same menu even the power botton.(luckly i had it turned on the last time of use) and i can't go through the menu it is just menu on and menu off. the first time of doing somthing dumb i only screwed up one wire and the later while playing around with it i messed up the whole wire. the wire leading to the controller board is 5pin and on the other side it is 6pin connection but 5pins are being used. the boards have not ben mesed up or any thing but just the wire.

what to do?
1. look at someone's wire and see the order of the wires in wich pin they go in

2. buy a new wire(if i can find one) i fond this http://www.partstore.com/ModelDetail.aspx?...&ModelID=435504 but i dont know wich one i need

3. or if u guys know of any other ways to help me fix it.

and if u need any more info plz ask to help fix my dumb!!!! mistake

Mikau, i saw u had the same kind of lcd maybe u could help plz?!

What exactly is wrong with the wire ? (burnt, severed, looks ok ?)
Any picture of this problem ? (worth 1k words if it phyically looks damaged)
What type of wire is it ? (flat FFC type, round regular type, etc...)

it may be fixed. i need the order of the wires cuz they got pulled out of the socket on the conectioon. no it is not ffc nor round it is kinda flat but with wires and has a kinda snap conection.

here are some pics but with a very sucky cam i don't know if u can make out how it is but wut the heck im gonna post the pics.

O AND IF I HOOK THE WIRES BACK IN THE WRONG ORDER WILL IT FRY OR MESS SOMTHING UP??????????
seesoe
sorry i for got the pics
but somthing is wrong

You need to save it as a jpeg under 120K or link it to some other server. I'm sure you are not the only one with this panel and someone should be able to give you the correct wire order.

Here we are Seesoe. This is a pic of the wires connected to the controller board closs up. As you can see, the wires connect at the end of the controller board. The black wire should be facing that end. The end its closest to.

hhhmm mne does not look like that is there any harm in putting the wires in the wrong order?

Some pictures would help. Most of the time the switches and LED are commoned and connected straight to the controller IC. Doesn't sound like the case with yours only being five wires. How many switches are there? Is there an LED and how many pins are on it? Are there any transistors or IC's on the board? I wouldn't mess with the wires unless I knew what I was doing. In most cases it won't hurt, but you never know with some electronic engineer's designs.
Mikau
Just to be sure. You are talking about the wires that connect to the circuit board that has the buttons on it, right?

Wow, that's a bummer! If I understand you correctly, the wires actually got pulled from the connector (you tried to remove it while the connector was latched in place?). I am not familiar with the circuitry of that particular panel, but I would take a wild guess that the black wire is a ground connection and that each of the other wires completes a circuit to ground in order to activate a function on the panel. When you press a button on the LCD control panel, the respective wire is "pulled down" to ground and the control circuitry knows the button has been pressed.

That having been said, "yes" it does matter the position of the wires. And, "no", it PROBABLY won't fry anything. HOWEVER, the best solution to this is to find someone with the same panel and a voltmeter and do some experimentation on which wire belongs where. Perhaps a call to tech support explaining the problem would yeild some help; talking to an engineer, not a support person, would probably be most fruitful.

Good luck.

thanks all of u i think i got it i have 25 ways to put the wires i can guess and check:). i don't think nothing will happen if i get the wires wrong cuz the board does not have any transistors or IC's. the board only has 5 switches and 1 led. and five wires. im guessing the gray wire is the ground for all the switches and led and the 4 other wires are? lol im thinking if i get the order wrong it is not going to fry or screw any thing up all wut will happen is i can't follow the panel pics. like it says on the panel on the far left is the menu botton, so if i get them wrong it is just going to make the menu botton some other botton depending on wut order i put the wires?

I would put them back in as shown in the pic that Mikau posted. That is assuming that is the end you are having the trouble with ?

seesoe
but he has a 510n and i have 510m? his looks like it it diffrent

Mikau on the panel from the outside wut is the order of the bottons

left to right there should be 5

menu, ?, power, volume up, and volume down with combo another key?
Mikau
Seesoe I have a

"512N"

a "512N"

a "512N"

I typed it three times so you know I'm not making a mistake. tongue.gif

First I suggest you make sure your monitor is a "512N".
seesoe
nope 510m
