A liitle descriptive text or light path on diagram to show what you mean would help

Picture cutting a hole in a tube putting the bulb into the tube like the picture with the reflector in the back

If I understand you correctly, no I wouldnt think that would work. You would be channeling all the light into a circle, you would get a bright circle on your screen, but you would lose the rest of the LCD information.

Ok thats what i would want, a circle using for a mirror design projector, to get a smaller point light source. The bulb would not get too hot would it?
TheAxeMaster
The bulb would get quite hot with no way to dissapate the heat. Plus you're forgetting the light that comes out of the end of the bulb, that you would be wasting, resulting in a greater loss of lumens than the standard design. I'm not even sure how the light pathing would be, but I doubt it would be good.

The LL design is based on point source at the fresnel focal point. This might dirrect more light to the screen but if it isn't evenly distributed and at the correct angle it will probably just wash out the image.
stickgrip
your going to have to do better on your discription and plan of use. From what I can see its a virtually uselss concept.
Can you explain what your trying to achive?
Show the LCD perhaps to clarify.

Thanks, :)

Ouch stickgrip... let's not mince words. I guess it's like pulling off a Band-aid; less pain to get it over quickly. tongue.gif

The point was to try and keep all the light in the tube to possibly create a point light source that was smaller.I figured it might get too hot though.Just throwing around ideas.Sometimes even bad ideas trigger something good lol.

The light will bounce around and probably come out the end but you can't create a point source. Light not passing through the LCD at a right angle will reduce contrast.

Ok all i really wanted to know in a nut shell was if i covered everything but the arc would it lead to a brighter image.I know my picture sucks but the tube is horizontal and the end is at the center of the fresnel, maybe the tube could be 8"in diameter or whatver so no stray light gets away from the fresnal?
