I picked up a 200mm fresnel/mirror combination. It came from an overhead proj I'm sure by the looks of the thing. Its about 12x12 with cut corners. It looks just like a clear fresnel except it has a mirrored surface mounted to the back side of the fresnel. I was wondering if anyone has found or knows if this could be used somehow int my pj or any pj design or even knows what it was used for orig? just curious thanks

Funny. I was wondering about that myself. The only concern I think is it might go into and exit the lcd in two differt spots, which would kind of mess up the collors, I'm not sure exactly how thin the colored portion of the tft is so this might work.

If it does work, then this would probably double the contrast, as the light would be passing through the lcd twice.

thanks for the response M,
do you think it could be used to reduce the size of a box somehow? I've been trying to think if it could possibly be used in a single fresnel setup somehow. Probably a stupid question but could a projector work with the light source on the same side of the lcd as the triplet lens using the mirrored fresnel? or would the ambient light from the source bleed out the focused light of the mirrored fresnel reflected through the lcd on its way towards the triplet? If so I guess the only way to use it would be to direct the light to the mirr fres from behind it somehow with mirrors ? probably just got me a neat wall hanging piece more than something I can use in a projector I have a sneaking feeling lol dry.gif

I doubt it will work. It works in an ohp because usually your just using a piece of paper, but an lcd is a lot thicker then that.
