250 bucks is a lot. I wish we just had a simple none zooming triplet with a wider field of view. That would probably be a LOT cheaper. Especially since this zoom thing is so problematic.

Even if it wasn't, upgrading to a 17 inch will cost a LOT. 200-300 for a 17 inch lcd at least and 250 for the pro lenses. Thats 400-550 dollars! Thats practicly the cost of my entire 15 inch projector.

Or maybe just a non zoom triplet big enough for a 17 inch and nothing more.

right now many are trying that with the lens at diyprojectorcompany however it will not work well over 15 in lcd's some are trying to mod it but I bought one and wish I hadnt only because it did not do what I was told it would. Honestly unless something comes out that I cant get somewhere else for under double the cost I will never buy there again. In reality until someone builds a lens which even when they do it doesnt seem to turn out we dont have one that will work with anything other then the lilliput screens.

for a 4:3 15" LCD, the diyprojectorcompany lens is ok, but not great. The lens can only "see" a 11" square, which would translate to a 13.75" diagonal for a 4:3 LCD. Any bigger and you lose focus (in the corners) and have terrible dark corners.

So, a 14" LCD would work really good, a 15" would be marginal, and a 17" would be totally unacceptable.

there are a few modding this lens maybe we will get luck and one will figure a way or a lens to replace that will make it work?
