Ok well I'm in need of a screen and I'm curious what route to go. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe blackout has a gain of roughly 1.0. The Dazian material lists at 1.3. Both materials are roughly the same price after shipping. Granted the Dazian is founded, but after stretching I think I'll be able to get all creases out. Just wondering what everyone elses input is?

Thanks

well I dont think anyone hear has reportedly used it ....

you should buy it.... and pic up some BO cloth from your local store, and do a half half comparison ... .and post your results here ..... if you gains cleanly without hotspotting, Id gladly ditch my BO screen for it.....

I wonder this myself. I was reading this link this past weekend. I actually got 2 yards w/ overage at the local fabric store for $5.99/yd so 72" x 54" was $13 afer tax.

If the Dazian is even a little better and/or looks nicer, I wouldn't mind paying to get it for a permanent mount.

Having said all that, I guess I didn't really help answer the question and probably got you excited for a better response unsure.gif

I actually found this linked in another thread (uses the ebay material) :

after a little research at AVSforum, everyone says its BOC. No noticable difference from those that have purchased. Either way thats not a bad price for BOC at those dimensions.

It's not BOC. There are several varieties of projection screen available from Dazian. I actually paid their office a visit yesteday and picked up some fabric. They have BOC available that looks GREAT and is available in wide widths. I think the stuff advertised on ebay is acrobat (spandex) and coated celtic cloth. Unfortunately, I ended up buying Coated Celtic Cloth because it was all they had in stock.

These are just my impressions so take them for what they are worth. The Celtic cloth is no better than the bedsheet I am currently using. The image was actually very washed out. This fabric has gotten some rave reviews on avsforum - go figure. It is acoustically transparent, but you pay for it with image quality.

The BOC swatches, on the other hand, were absolutely incredible! The colors popped and the contrast was WAY better. The whites were whiter, and the blacks were blacker. I'll be using BOC.

cause i got this stuff, and my colours and contrast seemed all washed it?
might try to get some blackout, but it;s harder to find large widths here in australia?

Nope, that looks like blackout cloth to me. Keep in mind you will need to recalibrate your LCD and HTPC for any new projection screen material. I think the Dazian is washed out becuase it leaks light like there's no tomorrow (it's acoustically transparent too). Tileboard works very well from what I've heard - give it a shot if it's easier to come by in Aussi.
