If you look at the Best Buy ad, on page 8 there is a 7" polaroid dvd player for sale for $129.99 That looks like it would be better to make a projector out of. It also looks like it might strip better.

the resolution on these things is usually terrible, like 480x234. that's about 1/4 of true DVD resolution.

You would have to look very hard to find a small panel that is affordable with a really high resolution.
I owned a polaroid 7" portable dvd player for a while and I thought that the resolution was very good. I realize that it is not perfect, but very good none the less.

It ma have looked good at 7", but probably would not have looked so well when blown up to 120".
