Well here we go again. This is pj #8 in progress its the 2nd 17.3" lcd projector i built and it just keeps getting better and better. This one is a folded design with 2 first surface mirrors and the pro lens set. It also uses the common ushio S400DD lamp and the ikea napkin holder reflector. the lcd is the SGI 1600SW. cooling is provided by 3 thermaltake smart fan II's and a digital thermal control module. The fan speeds are user controlable to keep fan noise to a minimum and the fan operation is completely automatic, lamp fans come on at 100 degrees and turn off at 85 degrees. The lcd fan comes on when the lcd reaches 90 degrees and turns off at 75 degrees. The lcd tilts 20 degrees in eithe direction for keystoning and the triplet lens will move up and down, back and forth as well as tilting 20 degrees in either direction. the fresnels are bolth placed behind the lcd.I have tryed bolth methods and they bolth have their advantages but the image quality is first and that is only accomplished by placing bolth the fresnels behind the lcd.
This build is for a fellow DIY comunity member "I have yet to build myown projector"
