Full Version: Cut corners (fresnels) and BenQ557V2

Finally made some progress last night. Turns out I have reversed the fresnels even after I measured and remeasured them, I really don't like the way we are told to test them to find out which is which, I think they should be marked from Lumenlab.

Now have tried to tweak the fresnels to get rid the cutoff corners and have not been able too, has anyone got the fresnels to fit so the BenQ557V2 has NO cut corners???

My top corners are the culprit. Brightness is good now even without reflector.

It's no problem with widescreen but computer desktop and possibly Xbox fullscreen is not to my standards, I will not pixel shift to lose resolution either.

I had ordered my fresnels last December.

Read biggrin.gif Wonderful you haven't sold it in awhile, I'm bought one from Lumenlab and am sort of stuck with it wink.gif

Lots of us order and then build over a few month period atleast.

I received last december and it was on backorder for awhile so it was probably ordered in October.

So the new ones are not cut, cause these ones are not even wide enough for the BenQ either.

I'd like to also add myself to the possibly bad ballast club as it rarely starts on the first try and now doesn't usually start for atleast 3-5 attempts. It has been started about ~25 times.

There are those who would want the old fresnels. If you want to have them in the unsplit configuration, they are better, or someone who wants to build a small projector may find them more desireable.

You should be able to unload them fairly easily as I did and upgrade to the new ones.

after reading this post i checked the 1005 s15 lens kit i bought to replace the pro zoom lens and fresnels that dont work. guess what the s15 kit has the corners cut so i can assume i was sent old ones, had them for months.
like everything else that doesn,t work properly i am stuck with, i have spent approx £700 around $1200 (inc carr and taxes) thinking i was buying the best there was out there.
wish i had stuck to the e-bay scam it was only a fiver and i got a few hours fun out of it. oh well i,m off to see if i can put the stripped benq back together.
i feel better after that,
by now.

What do you mean cut corners. Do you mean that your final projected image has a / and \ on the top corners and a \ and / on the bottom corners?

Also, my eballast has been running for almost a year now. It rarely starts on the first try. Usually it will fire the bulb within 5 minutes sometimes up to 10 minutes of powering on. I just turn on the PJ before i get my drink/food etc.

Yep but on the top (which is bottom of LCD), I may be able to move it down a bit, but alas I feel now that it is not wide enough as it's cutting off both sides a bit. sad.gif

Projector did not start at all today, tried for over 1.5 hours. Both with short intervals and longer intervals once turned on. It would try to strike once in awhile but alas NO luck.

Time to email sales at Lumenlab.

I play games on my projector all the time FPS and MMORPGS and i do not even notice them since the focus of your attention is usually at the center. Now if the screen you were looking at was only 15 inches you might notice it more but im here looking at 110" and do not see it.

I have never tried to tweak it my moving it up/down to see if i can totally rid it but if it is that much of a nuicense you can always upgrade to the pro lenses and cut the fresnels so they are bigger than the LCD in all directions and your problem would go away hehe
