First off let me apologise for my absence from these forums for some months, My life had taken an interesting turn, but everything is great again, so pictures of project sausage time.
diynoob
Let me tell you about it, it's a cross between the original plans and the 5" screen plans. it's portable in the sense that one person can lift it, it can travel in a car! bargain!

But......
diynoob
Theres a problem, the bulb. iv got the holder and bulb, but initial tests i blew the bulb, i need your advice.

What amp fuse should i use, and how do i wire it, im going in blind at the mo!

please bear in mind im English!

or is there another bulb i could use?

Please help me!
diynoob
Here are the measurements, its just a touch smaller across than the bulb you use in the 15"! so it's a billy bargain to transport since you dont have ballasts etc.!

Please give me your advice and tips!

again i apologise for not being around but i'v been through a weird patch!

Please check the lamp specs before you fire it up again.
That looks like an OHP lamp, some of those operate on
strange voltages.

Congrats dude, good luck with your projector. smile.gif

My question is what exactly are you saving by going with the smaller lcd? If its money than I understand in part but it looks like your enclosure is already big. The benifits of a little screen seem to be a smaller enclosure and the benifits of a larger projector seem to be better quality. My question is why not go with a 15"? This isn't a slight on your design in any way I am just curious. Good luck on your pj and most of all have fun.

Project Sausage time has now fired up again, following a naff year i now how some money and can finish what a started. will keep you all informed.

Finally got the bulb working, it singed the carpet, it was only on for a few seconds, hopefully tomorrow will be able to try and get it all running! will post pics as soon as possible!!!

Singed the carpet... did any get on the bulb? One time I dropped a soldering iron on carpet by accident. Turns out it was polyester or some other meltable plastic, because it melted all over my soldering iron.

Here we have the very first screen of "Project Sausage Time" in action, as you can see not alot is happening, its on, its running Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter from the 360 (pic to follow)

In short it is a lazy mans projector as the wiring is simple, portable (one person can carry it and can travel easily,if you own a car).

light Bulb - uses an ENH 120V 250W Bulb. The bulb is cheap about £5 in some places, and runs off another step down (thanks to Paladin for his help) used for american appliances and kicks out enough light to do the job nicely.

The screen is an in-car screen, took the plastic off, a bit of d.i.y to hold everything in place, and is attached to a step down, so are the two fans that are placed one on each side.

Heat wise, the bulb gets quite warm, but the fans do a tidy job. Until i find my probe thermometer i cant give you an accurate temperature.

Here is GR:AW running, apologies for the picture quality, i rushed and got my camera and took a few shots. The screen was just over 100", NOT running in widescreen, on PAL 50. my screen is the Living room blinds drawn across, and was viewable in the street to passers by as the image went straight through the blinds!
diynoob
And the last image of the night is taken from Howls Moving Castle, again sorry about the quality, im just excited that the thing works and the quality is su-friggin-perb! Will post better pictures as i tidy the box and wiring up.also sound is an issue as it doesnt have any at all, external speakers are going to be required.

More pics will be posted soon.
diynoob
Just realized why the image was so dark, the bulb is not inline correctly with projection lense, so the image is very faded, tomorrow i need to line up the bulb correctly, put some spacers in between the glass and the first fresnel lense, and possibly line the box with aliminium boiler tape, reflects heat well.
diynoob
Here we have my focus machine, works like a charm! iv now lined up the bulb correctly, so almost finished!
