Here is my plog at last! I have had the projector done for a little while, but now it is all the way set up and finished for now.

Without further ado, here should(is about to) be a picture of a Captain Power action figure. It was a great show in the late 80's. Anyone who does not know about Captain Power should immediately google for it.

Since you all now know who and what Captain Power is, here is a picture of my projector.

Here is a picture of the inside front of the projector.

Here is a picture of the inside back.
Note all the wire nuts. I didn't spend the money on those nice strips to organize the wires. I might get them when I rebuild the projector.

Here is a picture of me by the screen. I made it out of pvc pipe using Drudgemart's design. Drudgemart's screen design

Here is a rather blurry picture of the whole setup. I think it is a pretty cool setup. There are a couple altec lansing speakers that I mounted to the ceiling that provide the sound. The computer sits under the projector on the cart.\

You can also see the corner of the pool table. A pool table and a projector are the two essential things that everyone should have.

Here is the only screenshot that I have for now. Like everyone says, this picture is absolutely awful. The actual image looks very nice. This camera is a crummy camera that we got from Kmart when they were having all of those store closings. I have access to a new wonderful ~8 megapixel camera and have taken a few good pictures of the screen, but I don't have the pictures right now.

This picture does show a couple of the major faults in my image. The reflector that I am using is a walmart bowl with a very flat bottom, hence the very hot spot in the center. Everything is not perfectly aligned either which hurts the image some. I am eventually going to remake the projector. When I do that, everything will be perfectly aligned.

You can also see the black spot towards the lower left of the screen. That is where Silicone II somehow got on the screen. I think I could get some of it off with a razor blade, but not all of it. I also don't want to risk gouging the screen and killing the whole projector. That would not be a good day.

Even with the imperfections and the older style bulb, it is great for movies and games. The only flaw I notice in the picture when watching movies is the silicone. I play unreal tournament on it a fair amount, and that is wonderful. It is as if my projector and that game were meant for each other. I also have Mario Kart on N64 and that looks great.

I want to say thanks to everyone for all of the information that they have posted.
I borrowed a lot of ideas.

I also want to say a special thanks to Vroom. He posted about a deal from Best Buy on a Samsung 512N monitor for $110 after rebates one day. I called around to all the local Best Buys and one of them had one. It was open box, so the sales guy said that I could have it for $20 less than the already great deal price. I got the monitor for $90 + tax. I have never seen a new lcd monitor being sold for that low. I got it home and it worked perfectly.

Vroom also posted a guide to stripping the monitor that I followed very carefully, and I successfully stripped my monitor.

Vroom is a great human being.

Amen to that . . got the table, building the pj! And congrats on gettin-r-done.

BTW, in your second post you show a top-down pic. How far is it between the back of your LCD and the rear fresnel?
CptPower
It is exactly an inch between the lens and the lcd. I also have the lens sandwiched between two pieces of glass.

CptPower, great outfit, it looks so authentic. Actually, it makes you look taller tongue.gif no really, great projector. Is it really that close to you screen?
CptPower
biggrin.gif I think maybe it is the basement with the short ceiling that makes me look taller. I am a touch under 6 feet.

The picture of the projector and the screen is the projector in its final position. My basement would let me put it back another couple of feet if I moved a shelf, but then the image would be projected onto the ceiling and the floor.

Maybe give you a game one time! smile.gif
Nice setup. There is no such thing as a basement over the pond, unless you are really lucky, definately a rarity.Lookin pretty good though!
CptPower
It is too bad you don't have a basement. In my parents house it is a great place to have a theater because it is for the most part out of the way. You could dig one and tell your wife that you are making a new theater room? laugh.gif I think that would be a bit too much work. You are very patient though.

Here are some better pictures of the image. This first one is from The Boondock Saints. It is a great movie.

The colors in these pictures are still off some, but they are way better than the other picture. These were taken with an 8 megapixel coolpix camera.
CptPower
Here is one from Phantom of the Opera. Another great movie, but it is hard to top Boondock Saints.

Looks pretty good from where I am sitting!!
(even if that is a few thousand miles away!!! biggrin.gif )

I took the liberty of using photo-shop to correct the white balance of your pics, if you can manually set your white balance do so with just light from your projector shining on your screen, the pics will turn out better then!

Good job on the projector!
