Where does everyone have thier projector placed? So far I have tried to hang it from the celing but it tends to get a bit in the way (at least the front end of it) when I am sitting underneath it on the couch. I tried placing on the floor angled upwards but the top of it still stands out. I have tried the raised platform and wasn't really satisfied. Anyone have any more ideas for placement besides waiting for the long throw lens? Greatly appreciated!

We have this stand alone electronics shelf made of metal tubes, it's pretty light weight and stands about 6 feet high. I move that out to behind the couch and set the PJ on top of that when we watch movies. Due to the height... and the PJ pointing normal to the screen, no keystone adjustments are needed.

I have it hanging from a drop down cieling. I lifted the ceiling panels and placed it inside the ceiling with just the front end sticking out. It is actually in front of us when we watch TV, but it is high enough that it is out of the way. It is 6'5" high, so unless we get a tall guest we don't have to worry about bumping into it.

You say you tried placing it on the floor and it still stood to high? Can we have some measurements?

How far from the screen is the projector now?

How high off the ground is the front of the projector now?

Did you plan on using the projector for mainly widescreen viewing or is fullscreen viewing important as well?

If you only plan on watching widescreen presentations, you can use zoomplayer, and physically move the picture to the top portion of your lcd display, effectively moving the projected image higher on your screen. That would allow you to keep the front of your projector a little lower off the ground.

Another solution is to move the projector further back from the screen, thus lowering the height of the front of the projector. This will, in turn, make the projected image bigger, but you can use the zoom feature in zoomplayer to make the picture a little smaller.

Zoomplayer really is an amazing piece of software. Consider trying it (along with ffdshow) if you havnt already done so.

Fullscreen viewing may be a little trickier in our case. I'm building a coffee table design and hope to have the projector inside of it. The overall height of the projector ( depending on distance from the screen) will be critical in designing the final height of the table. Good luck!

Hope this helps.

Zoomplayer allows you to move the widescreen image towards the top or bottom? I was not aware of that. You stated that another solution is to move the projector further back from the screen, thus lowering the height of the front of the projector. This will, in turn, make the projected image bigger, but you can use the zoom feature in zoomplayer to make the picture a little smaller. I am curious about the zoom feature. Does it work like the pro lens where you can actually decrease the size of the projected image? This would be excellent, even if it only zoomed just a tad.

I just downloaded zoomplayer free version and have been fooling around with the zoom feature. Pretty cool! Anyway As I shrink the zoom player screen the windows desktop starts to show. Is their anyway of blacking out the windows desktop. I remember a link someone once posted of a little nifty program that removed the windows borders and stuff. Anyone know where the link is located? Thankyou

If you right click and slect 'full screen' (Alt+Enter), you will not see the windows background. Then you can zoom in and out to your liking. All you will get around the widescreen is black.

Hope this helps wink.gif

Okay So I have another problem now. Zoomplayer is not allwoing me to play my blockbuster dvd's. An error message shows up saying that the file may be corrupt, bad filters, improper codecs anyone run into this problem? It plays movies off my hard drive.

Maybe you haven't the necessary codec to decode mpeg2 ?
It has been a long time I didn't see dvds with zoomplayer but you may give it a try.
