With the ever falling prices on mobos and processors, why are you still in an 800 mhz? You can get 2ghz, and 1gig DDR for <$400 if you buy whichever mobo/processor combo is on sale at the time. I have a Fry's account so I have upgraded 3 times in the last 1.5 years. Now running 1.8 ghz Duron with 2 gig DDR, 2 200gig SATAs, and 2 120gig IDEs. Bought that entire setup, with the exception of the IDE drives and 1 gig of mem about a month ago. Now my wife has put me on credit hold with Fry's until I pay that off. I think what really set her off was my reasoning for buying the 2 SATA drives, I bought a mobo that supported it, so I had to buy some drives...
EDIT: I am aware that I have 640gigs of storage, but I also have every DVD in my collection now backed up, uncompressed. Oh yeah, forgot to mention the 8X DVD+RW, but to my surprise, Fry's doesn't carry a DVD+R over 4X, or a DVD+RW over 2X...
Now I am reading that Sony and Pioneer are about to release dual layer burners so you can store over 9 gigs on 1 DVD, which is how the movie guys fit so many extras + the movie on 1 disc. So my money was wasted on the burner on two fronts, no discs at speeds supported by drive, new drive about to be released.
