Just got my e-ballast in the mail today and hooked it up direct to plug in wall just to see if it would work ,well it blew my breaker which is 15 amp and there is nothing else on the breaker, because i ran the outlet just for the projector.I have everything hooked up right blue to white and brown to black.I should be able to hook it direct right? by just plugging it in?

Did you have a bulb hooked up to the ballast .....

I dont know the wire color code off of the top of my head to verify if you did it correctly, but it sounds as if something is shorted out. Did you see any smoke come from the ballast??

being a solid state device it is possible that the ballast is bad, but if you had the output shorted then that would definatly ruin the ballast and blow the circuit breaker. There should be an exhaust somewhere on the ballast (I would think, I dont have an E-ballast personally). smell the exhaust opening to see if you smell a friend electronic smell .... however dont get that confused with the smell that electronics have in general.

I did not see any smoke just a loud pop so i unplugged right away then noticed the breaker was blown.I then tried to plug it back in and got nothing, and yes there was a bulb in it.Being a certified home inspector and a carpenter for 18 years i know a little about electric so i know everything is correct.
