Full Version: How warm should my ballast be?

I've finally got my projector together and have given it a few tests of about 2 hours on each occasion. My Lumenlab ballast is mounted on the outside of my box.
I've noticed while checking temperatures that the ballast housing/heatsink gets very hot. I hold my hand on it and count to 5 and have to pull it away. So how
hot is too hot? It concerns me because it seems awfully hot for long term
survival of the electronics inside.

It's recommended to keep it outsoide the box as you are doing. Mine gets very hot as well. I think it should be fine. It's aluminum and is venting a lot of heat . thats why its hot.
