I know this is asking a lot, but for someone who already has the 520D and has not stripped it down, or for anyone who is planning on getting the 520D, it would be absolutely wonderful if you could make a video of the stripdown. It seems to me that this panel has been having some weird issues and I am just having an incredibly difficult time conceptualizing how these steps look. I know there are many besides me who would be quite appreciative of a video stripdown. And while you're at it, could someone please tell me how you are suppsoed to mount the circuit board which has the VGA and DVI connectors on it to the side of the PJ? Those 2 FFCs don't look like they are going to bend at all. Thanks for any help.

Well check out Forkev's 520D stripdown if you've not already

and see this as well

and check my alternative methods mentioned in this postthis

a video would be cool, whis i'd thought of that. basically if you look thru forkev's steps and also acknowledge the issues at hand and see alternative methods so you can decide how you feel most comfortably doing it, you'll be fine.
As for mounting the DVI/VGA connectors to the outside.. you have to use DVI/VGA throughput cables (extender cables) that will go from the inside to the outside.. dont actualy mount the circuit board themselves to the outside walls as this isnt too feasible, not even sure if using extra long FFC cables could handle that. just get a DVI or VGA extender cable like THIS
and then you take the female end and put it to whatever part of the outside you want. (just make a whole and mount).
hope that helps.

Thanks for the advice FatScreen. About the extension of the DVI and VGA: are you saying with this board, you should buy 2 seperate cables which will extend the DVI and VGA from the control board to the side of the box? Thanks.

you wouldnt have to.. technically you only need one .. but if youwant to make either VGA OR DVI available then yes you'd need two extra cables.

another albeit "less cool" option may be to simply connect regular cables to the boards and run them out the box .. if yer into the whole "cords dangling" approach. smile.gif
but yea, i like the previous option better.

Thanks for your help. You really cleared that up for me.
