Hey guys was just searching around for local (australian) sourced ballasts and whatnot...this seems to have a reflector incorporated..but i was just wondering if this was a ballast too.

does anyone have any idea?

G'day mate, how ya goin'? [spoken real fast so as to get it all in. as in before ya walk by one another on the street] I loved that about visiting Aus. smile.gif

I don't really think this is what you're looking for. This looks like it's designed for a HPS (High Pressure Sodium) bulb, not an MH (Metal Halide) bulb. Plus the reflector would not be useful for this application. You want to find a spherical type reflector that will shine light back to a single point source (the arc chamber) if it is to be used with a collimating fresnel lens.

if its the gavita bulb you are looking at it is a hps bulb
