Sorry about posting this, Im at work and it looks like its going to be a long night. I got my bulb, ballast and socket last night and was surprised to see how big it was. Since I only have a few papers here, I mapped it out and it looks like I can barely squeeze the ushio into the 14 inch (internal) box space and still get it on center.

My questions:
Anybody had succes doing this with a 14 inch box?
How much adjustment space did you have left over?
( I think the size of the base is throwing me off)

Thanks!

EDIT: Sorry ...spheling mistaches laugh.gif

whats you need is the measurement from the bottom of mogel to the center of the arc, when bulb is fully inseterd into socket.

i do not have that bulb or i would do it for you.

Well I am only in my burn in, i just got wired up and buring a few minutes ago, but i have a 14 inch wide interior to my box, and in order to get my filiment on center of my s400dd I could use no thicker than a 1/8 inch plate ( i used a drawer bottom skin) to mount my mogul on to get the filiment on center.

But I have also heard that no two moguls and bulbs will be exactly the same, and you always have the option of recessing the area on the side of your box that the mogul will mount to in order to use a thicker mount.

I just happend to measure mine today for another post. It is rougly 6.75" from the base of the mogul to the center of the arc chamber. My box is 13.75" inside width. As you can see here there wasn't much room for a fancy adjustment on the base mounted on the side of the box. I used 1/16" plate steel and then shims to get the bulb on center and level.

cheers,

My projector is 13.5" wide, inside diameter. I used the S400DD and mogul socket (Though I had to grind down the LL socket by a few mm to get it to fit) 14" wide would be just about ideal, I think. Just enough room to have a small mount pad and a bit of adjustment.

Yeah, the bulbs are bigger than they look in pictures without a size reference.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I will look into the meausrements tomorrow because I think I need to crash.

Okay. Based on the feedback and some quick measurements, I determined that I could take about 5mm off the bottom of the base. This should give me enought room to center the bulb and use my adjuster.

Thanks for the measurements guys!
