I am having trouble deciding on a new monitor? I really really want a widescreen monitor just because I would like to have just that size screen on the wall instead of a big 4:3 screen. It seems that there is a 15 inch available to do that but it has a slow response time and only a 450:1 contrast ratio. my other option is the dell with a 1000:1 contrast ratio but it is not widescreen. I want the 1280 resolution for sure no matter what I decide. Does anyone have any suggestions? the 15 sure would be sweet if someone could honestly say it doesnt ghost with fast movement like uc2 on xbox. I am currently using the cmv 529 monitor and had been very happy with it but now I scratched it and even though the color shows through on the monitor on screen it is just dark where the scratch is sad.gif Are there other widescreen monitors under 300 dollars? I have been going back and forth on this for 2 weeks and just cant make up my mind.

this is a 17 widescreen for 330 shipped it has a 25ms total response time 10 and 15 h v together! anyone know if it is stripable or if one of the same brand even was?

arent there extensions avaliable now for almost everything? what would even make a monitor unstripable now? I have done 2 without problems before just wondering if you can just get an extension here what other problems would there ever be?

You know that there is no 15" monitor with 1280 resolution. You will have to go with a 17" for that.

the one from staples has it? that last monitor I put up though was a 17 I was just wondering if it was widescreen because on pricewatch it was listed as it was, but doesnt look like it to me in the pics?? if you know please let me know.

Hi gguertin,
The Staples monitor you are referring to (if it is the 15.4" wide screen) has the resolution of 1280 X 800. I have the same monitor and I am driving it with my ATI card with the resolution of 1280 X 768 and it seem to be very happy. I have displayed some MS HDVD images on it in 720p and it looked very decent. I did not have a chance to put it into a projector box because of a lot of misfortunes of damaged shipments coming up to Canada.

I forget to add to it: if you are playing regular movies and you are not into gaming the response time of the monitor is good enough. Besides, where do you find a widescreen 720p resolution monitor for this price?

but what about for games? have you tried or could you? I would really like to hear. I have played some monitors with 25ms response that seemed good and others that seemed shitty, it all depends on how the company finds there speed some add the speeds v and h together others take the fastest, if it is 25 added together it is an amazing deal that I would try if it isnt i would be leary and it seems this info is hard to come by. can you try any games maybe a pc game like ut2k4 would be a good one, really any first person shooter? I sure would appreciate it if someone could tell me if it could be used for games or not. I heard the contrast is much better with the uniform lighting from a projector then it is with just the monitor so I am not as worried about that.

I could not comment on the response for video games because I do not play them, it is only for HDTV and DVD-s.
