Can someone tell me if I need to worry about finding a monitor that is capable of producing 1080i or 1080p resolution if I want to build a HD capable PJ? I know that I am looking for a Wide Format LCD that can produce 16:9, and that seems hard enough in itself, but I've seen in other posts that the lcd I thought met all my criteria doesn't support 1080i lines of resolution? Does anyone know the best monitor or specs to look for as the min required to get a native HDTV BOX? Thanks any responses are appreciated mucho.

thanks for the link to the group buy, looks way too expensive for my blood though, controller on the other hand looks doable, just looks like a real long wait to boot.

I still need to know how to tell if a monitor is capable of displaying 1080i? Is the 800x600 1024x768 ...... number the key? If so what is the minimum numbers I should look for? Thanks again for your help.

You can not run 1080i with a 15" pj. you can tell what the max is by checking the resolution capabilities.

720p is the first level of true HD. That is 1280*1024. This can be done with a 17" LCD. Current 15" LCD's (except laptops) will only do 1024*760. I believe that 1080i is 1920*1200, so that is way out of the league unless you can spend the money for the group buy.

What Benchun did with his 15" pj was use software with a home theater PC (HTPC), and enhance the signal to be displayed at his LCD's native resolution (1024*760).

In short, if you want true HD, you need to start at a 17" LCD. !080i will require the group buy. Otherwise you get an HD signal compressed to your LCD's native resolution. Please do understand that would still look much better than a regular or digital tv signal. You can see examples of that in the pj gallery with Benchun's "Yellow Treasure" pj.

Good Luck!!

I watched a tv show on my pj. The show was in HD and I have a 15" LCD in the PJ. I was blown away by the quality that the LCD was able project. It just goes to show that a quality starting point improves the entire thing.
