You are getting good at putting these small projectors together. I bought that same screen off of a member on diyaudio.com, and since he didn't send me a power adapter I tried using a multi-volt ac/dc adapter. The problem is that it doesn't work, are you using the standard ac/dc adapter?

Mongals, the power input is 7.5 volts, plus-in-the-middle.

Thanks for the compliment - Here's a closeup of the power supply. It's rated at 2 amps this maybe where the problems is, since most of those multitaps only pump out 800 miliamps.

Very cool. Now it makes me wonder if you can put together an array, like maybe 4x4 of these little guys and project a combined image on all 4 just like they do with a jumbo-tron or on some of the sports bar screens? Not sure what they use to split the video feed into segments like that but if it were doable on a htpc for example, it might make for an extra cool effect in the media room. Even more so if you could then pipe different channels to each one to watch either a single channel combined on all screens or 4 different channels, one each on each screen (or any combo of course). My math brain cells are dead at the moment so what would that make the resolution of the combined projections (I can never figure out what the real resolution is for these small screens)?

I have a couple questions.
On your first projector you said you used the Front Surface mirrors from surplus shed. Which ones did you buy? Were they the 7 5/8" long by 3" wide? Were they big enough? Did you end up using a FS mirror both before and after the lcd?
Make that a few questions.
I am interested in more of the specifics like everyone else. I have a psone screen sitting in a box right now and it would be cool to make a small projector like yours.
Could you possibly take a picture from the top down of your projector without the fan and the circuit board in there?

you seem to ahve enuf of these, what has kept you from trying the hack? It would be cool to see if the quality was worth it. there seems to be some descepencies whether this is actually native at 640x480 or it's actually less than that!!
what do you know...........????

Damn, You know your right. Sorry about that. This info/pic link is by Gannon over at Benheck.com. Those guys are incredibly knowledgable about the PSone.

As you can see the first
Blue and white wire are your power wires from Slot 1. The
Blue bing your positive wire and the White being our ground. You can modify these anyway you want. The other two wires I used were were the first two
Red and White wires from Slot 2. The
Red being the composite signal and the white ground.
One more thing, you will also notice the Red, Blue, and Green sig lines. Yes, you can VGA hack this screen, but I have not tried it as of yet.

I quite happy with my composite picture.
Now as far as the Lighting Goes that will be entirely up to your OHP. Each one is different. Some have light dimmers some don't. The key is to take it out as a whole. Don't disconnect any wire if you can help it. Keep a stack of yellow stickies close to you , so you can lable all the wires and the order in which they connect. Don't be like me and blow your bulbs trying to remember.

hell yeah this is exactally what i was looking for man i should be done by the end of the week thx man

To be perfectly honest, you tell me. It's hard to say. I used Powerstrip and set the res at 640x480i NTSC. It worked like a charm but the res has alot to be desired. Seems a little grainy. I'll try and detail more in my other post how it was done.

Ive been trying to get my PSone screen to work on VGA forever.. i cant get my ATI 9600xt to first off recognize the screen, i have to trick it by having another monitor on the dvi port (dvi to vga converter) and then switch it out for the psone screen.. but i still cant get a solid image on it.. im using powerstrip but i cant seem to get the 640x480i setting to get down to 15hz like the tutorials say lowest i can go is 25hz..
what video card are you using to run the psone screen?

I think that as stated in diyaudio is 320x240, maight be not good for vga, but I although think that your xbox plays really nice on it, maybe you could try, if there is another sequel to remove the front fressnel and use one of those big lens from the RGB projectors, they fit well 5". It will be smaller and who knows more bright better quality..

gustavoya, I've tried using one of those lens on this screen, and I didn't really like how it turned out. It had to be almost flush against the the screen to get the size image I wanted. I'm sure someone out there has had success with them, but not me. But a big thanks for the suggestion.

I don't think I can tell the difference between the VGA quality and the Composite quaility. Maybe it's just because I'm tired.

Could you write a little bit about how you mounted the fuji lens and how it adjusts? I have an a B&L copy lens and they look very similar. I have been trying to think of a good way to attach it to the box and still be able to adjust it.
As to the vga mod, isn't one of the points to be able to adjust the color settings? It seems to me that you have really good color without having to adjust.

CptPower, my system is pretty simple. I cut a hole just shy of the acutual hole needed for the Lens. The lens has a really nice tight fit. Its not fancy or anything but it works. I just turn it in or out to focus. Since I know my distance for a 60" image adjustments aren't really necessary for me. If you come up with a better way let me know

thanks - Alex

chris, sounds like an array of open windows, each streaming video, at the highest possible monitor resolution just might be doable in a HTPC. I'm building a proj based on the 8" HAMI. I'll have pics, soon.
Good luck,
