Here are a few of the pic's I have from my projector. I ended up using our digital camcorder to get these shots of Ice Age. The picture is is nice with even lighting and good colors, but Im not sure how they will come out with the camcorder. I noticed that the pictures looked different through the camera's lcd when I moved around the room.
mark8261
Another one.

My wife likes Skrat. The picture is just under 120" diagonal. The room is too small for this projection size though as the seating is only 10' from the screen
mark8261
One more.

Lookin' good mark.
mark8261
Should I expect a better picture if i move the fresnel forward of the lcd.
brainchild
Yes, so long as the lens is pristine.
drowhunter
why are the corners rounded like that?

is that the fresnel?
mark8261
Yes. The fresnel is the same size as the lcd except at the corners.

Mark, did you use the same camera as you used for the first cartoon pics ?. Somehow these images show much less color. Do you see this difference in real life too ?. Also, how come the aspect ratio for LOTR is 4:3 ?, what is your source ?.
mark8261
I used a dvd for all of these from a dvd player and s-vid connection. I used the same camcorder for all the pictures, but I think we saved them differently. The picture is very sharp and the flesh tones look natural to the eye. If there is anything that I still need to work on its the lighting at the bottom. Although my lamp base is centered, as you screw in the lamp it is off a little. I didn't pause any of the movies I just taped it then took the pictures off the tape. As far as the aspsect ratio that is the dvd I was given, so maybe they come in both formats. When you watch the movies the thing that jumps out at you is the colors are very rich. The greens of grass or trees, and the blues of the sky. Im just not picking that up on the camera. I will continue to work on getting some better quality pictures so you can see that.

Borrow someone elses camera, that's what I'm going to do b/c mine is crap and I don't even want to think of what it would look like in the dark (probably all black). That should give us a little better viewing of your results.

Where are the pix of the projector itself? I would like to see the inside layout of the box.
mark8261
I will get some of those out soon too. Right now everything is still temporary because I don't know if I will be including a reflector.
jeremyvnc
Me and you both.

Here is another attempt at some pics from lord of the ring. We just got the new cam and are still trying to figure it all out.
mark8261
Another from LOTR.
mark8261
One more from LOTR. The pictures look alot better until we resize them to upload. I can't seem to keep the picture quality very high when we save the pictures at this resolution. Anyone with some tips? Still using S-Video connection from the DVD player for all of these pics. The picture looks great until I pause them, and then they get a little blurry. I just moved my fresnel forward the other day and it is set up temporary right now. In the top corners of the picture you can see the binder clips.
DeathRay64
Save your pics at 72dpi and see if you can use a higher quality jpeg compression. They should look good then and will view at the size you want in a browser. Your last pic looks pretty good though.
joecnc2006
just curious why your binder clips are showing? because the fresnels are 3/4" taller than the lcd, which if you cut that in half would be at top and bottom, just looks like fresnel may be slightly lower than the center of the lcd,

but could be the way it looks, (just curious)
mark8261
Like I had said this was all temporary. I dont think I have everything centered. I am going to build another enclosure and move everything in there and get it realigned. That last pic we saved without cropping and it turned out a little better.

Full screen, ahhhhhhh.
A.K.A
The last pic looks good.
I like the brightness all around. Good job.
