It's probably best that you didn't say anything after that. After droping a clanger like that the only thing that opening your mouth does is let you change feet.

Yeah, best to lay low for a while.

I am NOT a happy camper when it comes to UPS. My screen shipped on Monday and its been in the Dayton, OH warehouse ever since. 3 days in the same warehouse? This shipment was commited to 4 business days. The way I figure it, they should have had it on my doorstep by the end of today. I called them and they said that my location was "remote" and therefore warranted an extra day. How convenient that that gives them the weekend to ship it. I live 15 minutes away from Vermonts UPS main shipping hub. Does that sound remote?
I remember when these guys were good...

They used an sub-contracted independant delivery service to ship mine from the warehouse. Apparently the screen won't fit in their normal trucks. So maybe they are having a hard time finding an independant to deliver for them this week.
But yea that does stink.

UPS once "Delivered" a 5000 dollar raid array to a neighbors house. It took me forever to get the claim straightened out. They once left a brace of hard drives with no bag for protection in a three inch puddle instead of on my doorstep. ..and I stongly suspect that one of their drivers stole a snowblower from my backyard. Since they were the only ones who made a visit from the time it was used, till the time it was gone.
Im glad your experience with them is good, but mine has been "

Ah well, I guess I will just have to immerse myself in "Age of Empires III"....

Brown can do exactly what it has always done before: Crappy service , crappt customer service and basic emulation of the USPS of the late 80's. I checked the shipping manifests. Its still in Poughkipse, NY. Man these guys make poor service look good...
Im not mad, just really dissapointed at how some folks dont take their jobs seriously.
I will leave a note on the door for them to leave the package, but I feel that their chances of getting it to me now are about as good as a the Urguayan bobsled team winning the gold....

(I just looked at the shipping details. I will be darned. Its in my local depot! 3 states away and three different depot centers and they still got it here in about 6 hours. If it wasnt late, I would be impressed...but actually I cant help but feel some type of grudging respect for them. So I guess Uraguay is still in the running!

Okay. I just got off the phone with UPS. Uraguay didnt get the gold, but they made a valiant effort. They assure me they can get it to me tomorrow. So Im thinking I might call in sick tomorrow.

That tracking info often seems to be off they don't post for a couple of days and then suddenly its across the country. USPS seems to be the worst with no updates for days, the package arrives and then a couple of days latter they tell be that its been delivered. Overall USPS is pretty good but thier tracking system is pretty useless.

I couldnt agree with you more. In the last 10 years or so, the USPS system has sped up to the point of actually beating UPS on several packages I have sent. But I will take that over tracking anyday...plus my mail person knows exactly where to leave everything and always wraps it in plastic. I guess its just all in your local services.
Buying some heavy duty lag hooks tomorrow and drilling my beams. The screen weighs 73 lbs.

I put in lag bolts, then crimped an S hook to the lag bolt and one to the screen , and then used a 6" length of chain and crimped each S bolt to that.
Worked perfect and is adjustable.

I was going to hang it last night, but I checked myself intot he hospital for chest pains yesterday AM. They turned out to be totally unrelated to my heart. ( insert cheer here!) But, 45 minutes on the treadmill, 2 doses of morphine, enough blood tests to drain a vampire and the shaved circles on my chest...well lets just say I wasnt much in a hanging mood last night

That’s scary stuff. I tried giving up smoking by using a drug called ziban and I got chest pains and noisier, not a good feeling thinking you are about to die. It turned out that the drug severely affected my digestive track. Let’s hope yours is something just as mundane.

Yep. Its scaralous tissue on two of my ribs from a really bad beating I took when I was about 14. This gang of kids was going to do in another single kid and John and I decided we had to step in. I still have this crystal clear memory of him looking at me and saying "This is gonna hurt..."
It did.
When I had my first heart attack, I also had pnuemonia. It saved me from damaging my heart due to fluid buildup, but it also seemed to settle into the scar tissue. Now whenever I get a viral infection like a cold I get pains in that tissue. Yesterday was scary because it hurt so much and came and went about every two minutes. The doc thinks it might be due to decreased blood flow to the ends of the ribs. Im just glad its not my heart. My doc says this will be with me for the rest of my life, but I can live with that.
Scars are just proof that you survived.

The chainmail I designed myself. It will stop a crosssbow bolt at 30 feet.

Its not even close to how good it looks. It captures some of the brightness, but the 3 MP camera just doesnt do it justice. I have to say Im REALLY pleased at how well this turned out. As is being discussed elsewhere not all monitors are created equal, and the CMV panel that you're using is (probably) one of the better choices, given the transmissiveness that I measured, and that was with the AG intact. With your stripped panel, it's probably even better!
