New to the forums and couldnt find where this question should go, can we use LCD's from laptops or is there a problem with them? Has anybody tried this or are there simple reasons you cant? I have a laptop sitting around and would need to buy a stand alone LCD....so if I can save a buck, cool deal! I would appreciate any feedback on this subject...thanks in advance!

No you can not because you can not get a control board for the LCD, as it is part of the laptop motherboard. "Minoten" has one specially made for a group buy for a wuxga screen. You can see that thread pinned in the public discussion forum, but it is about $600.

look at it this way for the price of one controller board (not to mention time to make it work correctly with the lcd you have) you could buy 3 or 4 of the most used lcd's in these projects....forget about the laptop and read read read
good luck you will enjoy the forums here
