Hi gaz,
Nobody else has posted so I thought that I would put my 2 cents in. I am new also and in the process of building my projector so it's probably more like me putting my 1 1/2 cents in.

I don't know if I would go as far as painting my ceiling black etc. I couldn't see how that would make such a drastic improvement that it would be worth taking the time and money on painting the room.

I have seen a lot of people going to a fabric store and buying fabric to place on the wall which would probably have a better outcome than painting the room. Again I'm new so I'm not for sure the exact material they use so you'd have to search around in the "Screens" forums on this site. In THIS post Ookpic is planning on group buying a lot of fabric.

Here is a really good read HERE, also in the "Screens" section that goes over several different paints etc that you could paint onto your wall or projection material.

Also I believe that painting your walls/ceiling will not provide much results but I read in a thread, not sure on the link but it's in these forums, that people have painted the inside of there box: white in the bulb area and black in between the last fresnel and projection lens area. Again what outcome it has I don't now since I'm still waiting on my parts dry.gif

Hope this helps a little

Also what type of bulb/setup are you using: a OHP (if so what is the Lumen output), 250W/400W Metal Halide, etc?

The screen material being used is called Blackout cloth. There is a sticky on it alone in this forum. I bought 7 yards of it but haven't tested it yet.

right then ive just started converting my garage in to my cinema has any one also got any ideas on soundproofing.
Its a concrete sectional garage with a 6" cavity
filled with rockwool between the stud and faced of with 18mm chipboard and i'm thinking of finishing off with that really cheap cord carpet hopefully black will this be enough ?.
got my screen sorted ive used a 8x4 sheet of plaster board (dry wall) and painted with A PEARLESANT PAINT MADE BY BENETON FROM B&Q ITS WICKED no glare but very bright compared to the blackout cloth i was using and very cheap. wink.gif

hey gives me an idea, Well the Drywall is kind of heavy to be hung what if a light material is used like Plastic material put two of them together then plater the seam with fiberglass resin and sand smooth that way you can get larger than 8'x4" which is 48", 4:3 Does not fit to well on a 4'x8' sheet. then paint it?

what ya think,
