This picture is a bit bright.. I could probably take more time to get a better picture. If you can't tell, the solders are a bit fat due to the metal I was trying to solder to not sticking very well.

Why not stick a plug in there and just cut the cord and use the wires from that?

You could have also used schrink tube and slid it over after, maybe even slit the tubing and try to put it over, it may hold.

Yeah, I'd try to redo that if I were you.
