I have basically finished my projector. Still have to cover wires with flashing. Can I just staple gun this stuff? . I did a test run and everything looks fine but I am searching for a way to cover the slot and fan hole. The light coming out is hurting my picture. I went to Home Depot and Lowes looking for the lourve (probably spelled wrong) things but when I asked for them I might as well been speeking Klingon cause they were no help. The only thing even similar that I could find where air conditioner vents and they won't fit in my box so any suggestions?

You can use an air conditioner filter. All you have to do is buy one and cut it to size. The upside to this besides light blockage is the fact that it helps cut down on dust inside the enclosure.

EDIT: here is an example of something you can get:

You can cut the wires and use the cloth alone.

Try not to get one like this:

The filter will then not make a very good light filter.

This is not the absolute best thing to cut out ambient light, but it does have its adavantages.

Hey blackflamin,

I searched high and Lowes too. Nobody could find anything close to what I wanted to cover my fan hole. I ended up searching in every isle.Go to the roofing section and look for roof, soffitt and actic vents. You will find one three wide. I cut one section out of the full vent and it works perfect. I got mine at Home Depot. I can post a pic when I get to my camera.

You can find them (louvres) around the heat duct section at menards. Theyre like $2.

I actually looked at those but wasn't sure if I could use it, thanks.

I live in Texas too...DFW, like in the post above, those louver covers are for the underhang of a house (the soffit) They will be in the roofing section, or somewhere around there. Tell the salesman you are looking for soffit vents, or wood soffit vents...vents that go on the outside of a house, under the overhang of a house, so the house can "breathe"...better yet, if you have time...look in the phonebook under Siding, call a siding company, tell them you are interested in getting vinyl siding for your home, especially the soffit, and you would like to see a "work in progress" get an address in your area of one of their crews putting siding on a house, go there, and ask the guys there if they have the soffits vents that they tore out of the soffit...these usually get torn out and thrown away before the vinyl soffit goes up. You'll probably get 4-6 of them for free...

Hey, cool. I live in Burleson. I'm still trying to get my theater room built, then start on my PJ. If you have any spare time in the next couple weeks, I'd love to see a built PJ in action before I start on mine.
