I noticed on NewEggs site that they have a warranty return for 8 or more dead pixels in a lcd. That seems really high to me. I would hate to have 7 dead pixels in my pj and be stuck with it.
Anyone know which company has a better dead pixel return policy. Please post here.

I verified with a Circuit City salesman before I bought a panel there that "if anything's wrong with the panel, like a dead pixel, I could return it, right?"
Two dead pixels and a no-hassle return later, I got a pristine set.
And props to Minoten for getting the group buy mentioned in my sig a zero dead pixel warranty.

you have to be carefull too, as with alot of those manufactors its not just 8 dead or 3 dead, its 8 dead or 3 dead within a certain size block, ie you could have 15 dead pixels but as long as 8 were not in a set size clump your hooped.
I know where i bought my benq 557s v2 they had a zero dead pixel garentee for 14 bux, plus i got the thing for 177 canadian after rebate so I was happy with that. Turns out I had zero dead so I did not need the warentee but in the end it was 14 bux that could have saved me a hassle, and I have blown 14 bucks on worse hehe

I bought a 17in from dell, and it came with one dead pixel. so i called them and wanted it exchanged. the salesman told me they wouldn't exchange it because it was "within the industry standard" which is 1-5 dead pixels. So i just brought up there total satisfaction return policy and said i wasn't satisified, so they sent me a new monitor. but the funny thing is, they haven't asked for the old one back. 2 monitors for the price of one

Brilliant! Make them live up to their promises. I guess that they don't want a monitor with a dead pixel either.

When they shipped the new one, did they ask for your credit card or reference the original order #? If so, you might want to check your credit card for the charge anyway. Most places that cross ship a replacement item will ask for a credit card or put it on the original order if they don't receive the return item. The return item is usually your responsibility to ship depending on the company and the item. Maybe they don't want it back or that part of the transaction fell through the cracks but that would be highly unusual in my experience...

I bought mine from the tiger direct outlet store. I asked them to show me that it had no dead pixels before I bought it. one of their technicians hooked it up and checked without any difficulty.

I just posted this in another thread where I asked the same question (always use SEARCH first, duh...).
Anyway, I am also on the hunt for a "0 dead pixel guarantee" from someone.
On a lark I was looking at the Benq 567s ver2 at benqshopper.com, and I saw a phone number there to call so I called it. I was told that even on refurbished models with the 90 day warranty, they will exchange a monitor with even one dead pixel. This was from some guy that answered the tech support number so take that for what it's worth.
Now I'm wondering if I should go with my first plan of a 15" CMT CT 529A (new from newegg, but has 8 pixel warranty), or the slightly more expensive refurbished Beng 567s v2...or even a 17" Benq refurb model for 30-50 bucks more? Not sure I want to mess with a 17", but I only want to build one PJ....decisions, decisions...
Anyway, hope that helps.

I went to the Tiger direct outlet store off of Mantis's suggestion. They hooked it up no problem and checked it out up and down. They were actually pretty nice about it.

Just talked to a rep at tigerdirect.com and he said that if there is even 1 dead pixel we can return for refund or exchange as long as it's within 30 days!!! best I've found so far.

If you try the new generation 17" Samsung monitors you will have no problems with dead pixels. Also, it is 16 million colors without deithering.
I have not built my PJ because of a lot of problems of damaged shipments, but I have a BENQ 15" and a SAMSUNG 711T runningon my bench and the picture quality can not be compared. I do not see any screendoor affect on the SAMSUNG and the colors are perfect using IMAX HDVD samples.

Keep in mind, we are stripping these right away

so there goes the warranty dead pixel or not.

may be stripping them right away, but we should at least check the first for dead pixels... If there is any I at least want the opportunity to send it back.

Yeah, the first thing I'm doing when I get my LCD is hooking it up to my PC and checking for dead pixels. Any dead pixels and it's going back for an exchange. If I break something during the stripping process, well, tough luck for me.
