pj up and running for about a week. I am still trying to figure out why light is missing to the left. Overall, light is even around triplet...except for the one spot.
Then again, maybe this kind of light loss around triplet normal.

No ... that type of loss isnt normal .....
i will admit that when I first fired up my PJ, I had almost that exact same spillage, except mine was a little lower .......
i went back and realligned everything, and now I just have an faint glow that is even all around the triplet......
Adjust your fresnels first ... make sure that they are perfectly in parallel to each other.
When you have them sitting perfectly with each other, then make sure they are both centered into the enclosure perfectly ... (I recomend not going by the LCD at this point, but rather by centering it according to your enclosure dimensions), If you have to move it off center of the LCD a little thats ok... you can readjust the image position or the LCD itself later ....
lastly, when the fresnels are perfect with each other, and sit perfectly in the center of the enclosure adjust your bulb ... Adjust it up/down/left/right ....

It is normal to have serious spillage when assembling but the objective is to minimize this spillage as you adjust your PJ.

I betcha if you lift either your front fresnal or back fresnal about 1/4 inch the spillage will center. That's what I did when I had the same problem.

Thanks to scuba, phutton, and pager. Will try all suggestions. Am still on high from seeing Nemo 5 feet tall! Did a 50 year-old man just say that?

Here are the results of your suggestions. Light now centered much better. I moved bulb over and down and re-alligned the fresnels.

and AFTER...
blues are darker and more color on face. Still projecting on white sheet.
whoah... the difference is very noticeable...although the camera can give a false impression...
i have the same problem as you do... ill try moving the bulb 'cos the fresnels are aligned...

I had the very same problem hunch. I just had to fine tune the lenses to get them lined up correctly. as well. Glad it all worked out for you.

I have a stupid question. Im a newbie and Im noticing in several projector pictures that the light is focused to a point towards the triplet and stuff. I dont have the lcd installed yet and i was curious what my light would look like hitting the triplet to see if i was aligned. What I see is a square light hitting the triplet. Is this because I dont have the lcd screen in yet or my alignments are way off?

Hi jeepin,
Yes you should see a rectangle of light at the projection lens. We take the light from a point light source and evenly spread it out into a rectangular shape to allow us to evenly light the lcd. We then take that rectangle and shove it out a round hole, the projection lens... We want to use the entire lens area of the triplet and not just the center of it, so the focal length of the triplet is shorter than the focal length of the fresnel to allow us to use as much of the lens as we can.
