Here is the back view of my projector. I have a question if someone could answer. Will I have any heat problems built up with the vent over the fan. The fan is a 120mm. The rest of the project I will show as I progress. Light ballast is on it's way.

My personal thought is that (1) yes, any vent/louver in this setup as you installed it will decrease CFM throughput and (2) depending on vent/louver design, this may or may not be significant enough to cause a heat buildup problem.

With the lightbox design in the "fans" thread, even if the volume of CFM is reduced significantly by the louvers, because the airflow is focused across the bulb (large portion of the heat generation in the projector) the reduction in CFM does not negatively impact the overall heat of the box.

The only way to know for sure is if someone used the exact same fan and exact same vents. Might wanna put those details in just in case you have a lucky hit and someone else did exactly the same thing.

One more caveat. I'm not the best at designing heat removal methods from a system as I've struggled for years to keep the temps within the 'Normal' range after I stuck a EFI V8 in my CJ-7. laugh.gif laugh.gif sad.gif

Yeah those CJ-7's can really heat up with a big V8 (hehe). No really, the fan situation is basically setup on pressure. The least amount of outside pressure of the case will give you the better airflow (CFM) as will having MORE pressure INSIDE the case. Though I'm not sure if having positive pressure inside the box would help the bulb any (CrAcK... CrAcK... KaBoOm... There goes light wink.gif ) This is all theory though.

If in doubt of heat problems do what I'm going to do and throw in another fan. It never hurts to have more airflow. cool.gif Giggidy Giggidy

Hi movieguy128 if you ever get stuck in your cj-7 I will be more then happy to pull you out with my Suzuki Samuri biggrin.gif

Thanks for the offer, but between the Detroit in the 9", NV4500 and Swampers, I haven't found anything I wasn't able to work my way out of one way or another. wink.gif

I would hate to see the pit that you get high centered in wink.gif
