Would 4mm be thick enough ??

Also, what would i do about a UV filter ? can i have a UV filter if i have the tempered glass ?

Not sure about mm sizes but it comes in 1/8 or 1/4 here, 1/8" is fine. Yes you still need a UV filter. In the LL store. It's not required if you use LX10 or the like.

The guide says 1/8th of an inch which is 3.2mm so 4mm is fine. The UV filter is specifically for people using tempered glass, as people using lexen don't need it because the lexan has built in UV filtering properties. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the thicker the glass, the less light it will transmit but the better heat shield and vice versa so the thickness of glass required would be proportionate to how powerful a fan you use.

I was thinking it would be to thin. I dont mind loosing a little bit of light. I am picking my glass up on Tuesday.

It was AU$20 (around $16 US) i little expensive but i dont mind. I just wanna get my parts quickly biggrin.gif

Looks like i need to find my self a UV filter now. If i cant find one around here ill just order it.

yeah i have read that it can degrade your lcd (the uv rays) and its there to protect you too.

There was a thread where someone was adjusting there PJ with the cover off and the light on and the next day he was burned and his eyes were stuffed.

no... ordinary window glass blocks a significant amount of UV. UV can degrade plastic, and it's so close to the lens that something with UV blocking properties would be a good idea, though to say for certain it's active on the lense I can't say. I dont' think you really need a lumenlab UV filter. I think it says on the specs that it allows 95% light transmission and blocks 95% UV-which is good-but wouldn't seem to be as effective as a sheet of .125" glass at blocking heat, which would double as a UV filter anyway.
I'm thinking these bulbs would be an efficient way to light my room AND get an all over body tan in the winter. Too bad they cost $50.
