I know this may sound wierd, but one thing that will annoy me when my projector is finished is having it sitting infront of me when trying to watch a movie, so i came up with this idea. What is one were to buy say a 3 seater couch, and modify the middle section to fit the projector, and also pad the ouside edges to provide another arm rest. The PJ top could be used as a table for remotes and thing of that sort. Any thoughts on this idea?

Sounds like a doable idea to me. Personally though, Id want to place the PJ on a shelf or something behind wherever I was sitting, becuase I think if the PJ was right next to you, the brightness would be distracting to the projected image.

Seems like it would be easier to use the coffee table idea. I guess it depends on where you have your couch and where you need to have your pj.

Perhaps put padding on the entire thing and use it as a heated footrest.

I was thinking about doing the footrest/coffee table thing as well. I'm guessing that it may get hot, noisy & cause too much light pollution though.
The sofa may get uncomfortably warm.. and if it ignites... sofas for some reason are
mega combustable.

i was thinking to incorporate the projector into a sofa as well! I'm not crazy after all,it'be protected by plexi glass incase a lil' one kicks on the sofa and breaks the triplet,an exhaust wll run all the way to the back of the sofa, it wont be near a wall, *so no fire hazard, just being safe,a temp safety shutoff will be in he Pj

another thing to try would be to go to an upholstery place, ask basic framing questions and modify it to your PJ. furthermore. what if sofa is too small, u'd end up with a lump, too big and ur using more space than need be.Jo Ann fabrics does more than just blackout cloth,

they have foams and such. truly a DIY sofa to go with a DIY pj. Just my 2 cents.
400+w of heat and one or more fans inches away from you? Not to mention how annoying it would be with people moving the couch as they get up/sit down, fidget etc. I would be inclined to say that you would have to be truely married to the novelty of it to make it a viable solution to placement.

Just plan on having a PJ as your coffee table. On either side, put an equal number of seats, and if you need more seats, behind you could put a riser w/ two more sofas.
Sample setup:
(note, pro PJ would have to be a bit taller, potentially killing coffeetable use)

Why 2 PJs? Why not just one pro?

*sigh* He was illustrating "one or the other" in the same drawing.

Why? For 3D films of course!

In place of whichever one you don't have, place an ACTUAL coffee table
