I just found out my slide projector bulb still works, would this work at all for a lumenlab projector?

Not permanently but maybe I could use it while I'm saving for my halide.

I just did a quick search for slide projector bulbs and got some interesting results.

I found some incandescent slide projector bulbs with 12500 lumens for only about 24 bucks. Not sure of the life though. But if we can find one with 20,000 lumens and use a good reflector it might work just as well as a halide without a reflector. The benifit is no startup time, it just snaps on.

I was thinking about making some kind of mechanism that has two interchangable light sources, one a halide, the other a bulb with no start up time. So you can have an instant light source and when the halide warms up, switch to the halide. Just an idea.

Jikes! lol. It seems they have at most, 50 hours of life! Geez.. wouldn't be worth it unless you used it for a begining instant light source like I just mentioned.

It can be made to work. Halogens run a lot hotter than metal halides though. I only consider it an option for small portable projectors due to the lifespan. My Infocus Lite Pro 760 used dual quick swappable EVD type halogens. 16K lumens at only 20 hours life <$10 a pop. If you're not going for portability then go stictly with MH. Keep it simple. wink.gif

Yeah, well I think maybe we can get the bulb switching thing to work, but it may be more effort then its worth.

These aren't halogens though.

Color Temp?

My guess it would be pretty yellow.
Mikau
Not sure. Mine does produce a lot of heat for a little bulb but I don't know how it compares to a halide. I've never used one. I doubt it would be a problem, so long as the lcd stays cool and an lcd is a lot bigger then a slide so the heat is distributed over a larger area.
Mikau
No not really. They are used for slide projectors so they work well.

Hmmm, not halogens? Are you sure? Do you happen to know the ANSI ID on the lamp? And do you know if it runs off mains AC? Or how about what slide projector it came out of. Curiosity has the better of me. wink.gif

Sure are incandescent. Not sure the extact model mine is, I doubt its available anymore, I've had it for years. Strangly it still works. Hasn't been used much though.

Just search for "slide projector bulbs" and you'll find a bunch that say "incandescent".
