Has anyone utilized an lcd from one of those portable dvd players in there project??

As far as I know, unless the LCD was not _part of_ the dvd player, any LCD with the correct inputs should work fine.

Most portable DVD players do not have any inputs. Only outputs. From what I have seen. I did see some nice 10" players that would make good PJ's, but a regular LCD monitor is by far the best method.

Oh ok.... i came across one with inputs , thats what made me think about it i guess theonly problem after that is the specs on the lcd resoloution etc.
also these things go for a good price..might be good for a light weight project.

I came across a portable DVD player with RCA inputs over at my local Circuit City. It was wayy overpriced though.

Many of these use 7" widescreens, which are typically 480X234 resolution. (Often quoted as 1440X234, counting R, G, and B as individual pixels) The inexpensive ones are almost certain to be this resolution.

Many people have acheived acceptable results from these low res screens for movie watching, but certainly not for PC applications. Even so, I'd want to limit the size of the projection to avoid showing jaggies.
