Hi all,

I'm interested in making a LCD projector but before I buy ANYTHING I want to tally up an aproximate price and part list.
I'm in Perth, Australia but I'm not sure about the availability of suitable Metal Halide lighting here so am looking at online retailers.

For a metal halide setup, what is the optimal color temperature for projection?

I've found these and am wondering if they are appropriate for this application?
Venture Lighting 400 Watt Universal Clear with 400 Watt MH Control Box and compatible lampholder bracket for $116.9 AUD or about $92USD.
Also is that all I need in the lighting department? (Other than a reflector)

Thanks
Morien

hey morien

i've been pretty busy lately, so i haven't made the move to purchase access to the site yet. but i'm pretty sure i'll do that soon! i'm also from perth, so anyone out there who knows the answer to this question..that'd be cool smile.gif

cheers
Morien
I did some searching and found the light's specs:
Model number: MH400U
400W
4000K color temp
36,000 initial lumens in vertical position (Base up)
32,400 initial lumens in horizontal position

Looks perfect. The Venture Lighting website says here that 4000K is pure white smile.gif

And going by the 10% ansi figure im looking at minimum of 3,240 initial ANSI lumens biggrin.gif

(Please someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Hey,
links are all in the first post. I'm not sure about postage though.

Good luck
