When i build my PJ, i would like to be able to turn the brightness of my PJ down for when its pitch black and you dont need the full power of the globe.

Is it safe ? Also, would it make the color temp change ?

It is not safe.
I can't think of why you would want to turn the brightness down(if it's to try to save hours these things last a long time already), but you could reduce the brightness with your lcd or n6, ect. settings.

Yeah true but wouldnt the amount of light going through the lcd cause the color to look washed out ?

Like would black look grey etc ?? I havent built my PJ yet (still wating on lens kit to arive) im just getting as much info as possible smile.gif

But yeah i had a feeling you couldnt use the MH with a dimmer dry.gif

No, you will never need to turn down the brightness, even if its pitch black. Your PJ will never become brighter than a movie theater or a CRT.

With that aside, if you put a dimmer on the Ballast, you will blow it. The drop in voltage will cause the ballast to naturally sink more current and will lead to its breakdown

Edit: deserved its own topic.

You need to build your projector first....

THEN you'll see that you will not need to dim it. Period.

I pretty much HAVE TO watch mine in pitch dark room. It's really not as bright as you are anticipating it to me. It IS bright enough, but not overly.

Just build it and you'll see.
