wasnt in just dashboard hacks that scaled the resolution to 720/1080??

or was the source material on the games themselves higher than 480?

Thanks man,I am sure they will be ok in a couple of hours.I think my isp must have changed their policy on this.I have never had this problem before,and I have uploaded alot more than this over a continuous period. :angry:

I played the %$#* out of that game on my buddys DLP projecter 2 years ago.

Not all of them are, but a lot of the games are 720p compatable. Has a chart on the back of the boxs.

The UK (PAL) xbox has 480p output disabled, so it's likely 720p and 1080i outputs are also disabled (this is in dashboard, a little fiddling with custom dashboards or modchips can enable the higher display modes, but like any hack it will bar you from Live if you try and log in whilst using it).

Well it looks like us older xbox guys will have to just sattisfy with 480i which isn't bad as a matter of fact the xbox and ps2 now have a higher resolution that the regular cable input to my pj. There must be a way to connect a system to a hdtv tuner and patch it through to the pj so it can be upscaled. Until then I await more Pun pics and my Ebay search continues.

I know that the UK spec original xbox had the HD capability disabled,unless soft modded.

OK, a few titles support 720p, almost all the rest can support 480p. I don't think any support 1080i.

However, in the UK, all xbox consoles only output 480i, and the games also enforce this. You can modify the dashboard or perform other hacks to get foreign games to display in igher resolutions, but if you then try to connect to Live like this your xbox's key will be revoked and you will be banned from Live.

Hey pun15her you said you scratched the disc when the 360 got flipped over? Call Xbox services and they will replace the scratched disc, and they will also give you some free games, or at least thats what I read in an article a few weeks ago.

The nice man on the phone suggested taking it back to the shop and saying it was like that when I bought it!

Great pics Pun one question though does the 260 automaticaly give yuo a vertical split screen with Halo2 now? Just strange seeing it that way I'm used to the horizontal spit screen also is quake 4 any good I've been waiting for another one to come out.

I remember it being really weird to switch Halo 2 to go into Horiz Splitscreen....I just can't remember for the life of me what it was.

The 360 automatically selects vertical split screen mode,when it detects a widescreen output....
But I am outputting at 1024 x 768!!
This is a "quirk" with the 360.I am hoping it will be fixed,as it is a pain in the butt!!
Quake4 looks great,and is good fun,but I cant help but think there is something lacking!
Not sure what it is,though.Sure makes me jumpy,playing on the big screen!!

I've been lurking for a while and stumbled upon this post.

I'll clarify a few things here:

1. Changing your Xbox from PAL to NTSC will NOT affect your Xbox Live account. Since this is all that's needed to enable the HD resolutions, disconnect from the network/Xbox live, do the mod and you'll be ok from then on. A lot of people do this who are using Xbox live on a daily basis. The video mode is not one of the things Xbox checks from the EEPROM information. They currently check the Live Key, Serial Number and HDD Firmware ID. AFAIK They have no plans to check video mode.

Better still, if you know someone who has a copy of Splinter Cell (original) with a memory card and access to a chipped Xbox, you can change the output of an Xbox without even opening it up.

2. A few games do support 1080i - MX unleashed is one I can name since I've tried it successfully. Syberia also does, but looks better in 720p. There's a few databases online which list the supported titles. Here's one:

I havn't built a straight shooter (yet!).There will be some loss in any fold.I wouldn't do any more than 1 fold,as I think the cons outweigh the pros.But one fold is certainly acceptable,for me at least.
There is some info on light loss when using mirrors,if I remember rightly,the figure was around 3%,but dont quote me on that,my memory is not what it used to be!

When I first built my PJ,I was going to try and hook up my xbox,but decided it would be alot easier to wait for the 360.It seems to be alot easier,especially with the vga cable.No need for an N6,etc,etc.

I've had problems with NTSC on PAL systems (3:2 pulldown on FMV etc), but not the other way around. I'm almost positive I've never had a problem.

I'll double check tonight, just to be sure! Either way, it's something which is easy enough to change back.

Dunno if this helps but, i've a softmodded pal xbox which has the enighma mode switcher installed into the dash. You can flip between pal/ntsc at will and most games (the x2vga needs the ntsc mode for high def output)I've tried have run no problem, tiger woods will not run for some reason.

Not wanting to turn this into an Xbox thread, but beware of constantly switching modes. The Xbox EEPROM can only accept so many writes. True, it's around 10,000 but it's not infinite.

Not to be goin on too much about the xbox, but a friend of mine modded it and has set up a virtual epprom. I'm not 100% sure how it works but it sets up a virtual eeprom so it never actually writes to the hardware. You can read how to do this at xboxscene using Nkpatcher.
So no worries Hopefully!!!

I have read that Tiger Woods has been patched to work on the 360,but still does not work at all in any of the HD output modes.

This is slightly puzzling me - the 360 should output ALL games in HD, regardless of whether it's an Xbox or 360 title.

Either way, I don't think it'll matter as much since the VGA cable will give a far superior picture!

Good news,I polished the scratch out of my Project Gotham disc!!
I bought a disc.polishing machine from E-Bay,which broke in under 5 mins!
The polishing liquid supplied didn't touch the major scratch on the disc
But I thought what the hell,so I hand polished it using left over metal polish from my reflector!!!
This got the scratch out,then I used the disc polishing liquid,and hey presto!!!
Saves spending £50 on a replacement!!

It is all good though,I am not as serious as ALOT of people online,man it is scary sometimes.
