I finally recieved my refurbished benq fp591 from tiger direct after 3 wks today. Had them check it for dead pixels before I left the store, so I know I am good there.

When I hooked it up to compare to my current Dell, I could not believe the difference. It makes me want to keep the Benq for my PC. Color and brightness are incredibly better on the Benq. I did not realize how good some of the pj results were here until I saw them on the Benq. Hopefully I can correctly strip it with no incidence. Very nice looking so far.

So you are saying that you bought it at the store and not online? I want to get this lcd but the only thing stopping me its Tiger Direct reputation. I dont want to be stuck with an lcd with dead pixels...

I went to the store to buy it (refurbished), but they did not have one in stock. Because I live in illinois I would have to pay both taxes and shipping to buy it online, so I just had them ship one to their store to avoid paying ths shipping. I simply asked them to show me that there were no dead pixels before I accepted it, and they did without argument. I did think that 3 wks delivery time was a little ridiculous though.

Thanks for the information I will have to check this out and save on the shipping. I was at the outlet store in Orland Park, IL over the weekend and did not find the monitor I wanted. Did they still have the refurbished available? I will definately get my monitor this way just for the assurance of no dead pixels.

Look on the web site to see the available monitors. They did not have the refurbished one the last time I looked, but they still had the regular one.

Thanks alot for the quick response to my email. I drive by that store everyday so I will have them order it. It is just a shame they don't have the refurbished one. Being able to have them check the pixels takes the worry out of buying a refurbished monitor.

It's kind of funny I thought I would be the only one in my area to have a DIY projector. Looks like you beat me to it. biggrin.gif

At the rate i'm going, you may finish before me.

I called tiger direct and they are getting my lcd delivered to the store. Looks like my wait time may be a lot shorter than yours. The manager is making a special trip to pick up some things from the warehouse and I asked nicely if they could include my LCD in that trip. All that is left is to ask them to test it in the store then I am golden. I am in Tinley Park so if I finish mine first I will aim it at the sky towards Orland kind of like a Bat signal for all DIY projector guys. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
