This is the second time i've stumbled upon this software keystone correction program.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/feature_nvkeystone.html

Has anyone with an HTPC tried it on their PJ yet? The good, the bad, the ugly?

Sounds like it could save a headache or two, or perhaps create a few dry.gif

Looks to me like the software can only make the image properly rectangular by moving in the corners of the rectangle, reducing the size of the image. The graphics shown are somewhat desceiving in showing the image expanded to fit the screen.

I had thought something similar, If what we're thinking is true, its basically re-processing the entire video.

If so:
- We're looking at high cpu/gpu usage
- Probable degradation of image quality

We'll if i ever get my PJ up and running anytime soon i'll be sure to give some feedback on this software blink.gif

The image is not reprocessed.

It is processed once with a different algorithm.

I don't think keystone correction on the LCD screen will look too good... You will loose pixels on the sides and probabbly come out with a jaggy picture. Anyone have closeup pictures of how vertical lines look on an LCD after going through this thing?

Don't feel bad, my htpc has a GF4ti4200 sad.gif (9600 died on me)

can't wait for some hand-me-downs from my current main rig.

I'm sure they're using anti-aliasing. Lots of nVidia cards even support full screen anti-aliasing in hardware.

This has been tried and I'm afraid it won't do what you want.

Software based keystone screws your focus big time.

From the tests we did (about 6 months ago), we found that it can be used to gain a couple of extra degrees on physical keystone but is only useful for movie content. Text becomes unreadable very quickly.

The other downside to it is that you are not using the native res of the panel when it's all bent out of shape in order to display square on the wall. So you're losing resolution by doing it.

Cheers,
Arkay.

I just messed around with the NV Keystone software on my 6800Uoc.
This software is amazing! Thanks for the heads up.
